Hi power inverter for Nissan leaf motor. Dyno's 302.3hp p15

A friend Stephen ordered a kit (traded for some BMSs) and he designed some copper bus bars. I will post the files for anyone who wants to get their own fabbed up.

Hi Arlo,

I'm specifying a project at the moment and seriously considering using one of your inverters. I was wondering (and this might also be aimed at Lebowski), have you looked into supporting 3-phase battery charging? I've read a few articles discussing this. I believe this is what the Renault Zoe Chameleon charger is (someone please step in if I am incorrect in this assumption).

It appears that the number of additional components required to implement this is relatively minimal (isolation transformers and contactors being the more expensive parts).

This is easy to do if you want to have a bunch of contactors in series with each motor phase and maybe some external inductors.

I believe Tesla did something like this as well for the Original roadster. There is reasons people don't do this on OEM EVs available right now.
 
Hoping for the best for your wife and whole family. I am late to the party but am wondering if this inverter setup is available to order? Or if there is something similar available commercially. Was considering saving up for the HSRmotors Tesla rear drive and 057 controller. But if 300hp is possible with the leaf motor (even as a burst mode / scramble) then that's enough for this project. Thank you.

I have been offering kits.

I have to warn you I have 10 IGBTs on order and they are another 22 weeks away :( I even looked at getting 100 of them and its still a 24 week lead time.
Also I tell most to aim for less power if you are looking to string it out for the max at 300+ hp there is a good chance you will blow it up. There is a lot going on here and its a huge undertaking to get this all sorted out. But if you are inclined here is the link.

Its a use at your own risk kit.

You might get 300Hp.

I got close to 400hp and forgot to turn the cooling fan on and blew up the last one with my thermal cut set not quite aggressive enough. I was able to do 300+ hp for a lot of 1/4 mile runs. But I also spent a LOT of time and money to get there. You can do the same at your own risk and cost if you like. I am always working to make the kits better and more robust.

I might have missed it in the video but you speak of 100 to 130 kW continuous but I didn't hear about peak power? What is the estimate peak amps/power that it will be able to provide?

Keep it up, it's a very nice project to follow!
