Hi guys,

Nothing special but as I am new to the field of e-bikes I am now considering

1.buying this fairly simple bike (Shimano Acera. Promax brakes TX123D, front Fork Suntour)
https://www.bikester.be/serious-cedar-s-hybride-fiets-zwart-886029.html

2.and mounting this Bafang BBS01B 250W (due to legal restrictions here) 36/17.5Ah kit DC18 LCD with 48T:
https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/32674634980.html?spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.38022e0eMdhM1F

Any thoughts? Any tips?
Would this one be programmable with the Bafang cable to set a speed limit myself?

Thanks

Matter of personal tastes maybe, but I would not use a donor bike that did not have disk brakes.

Thanks, fair remark!
Questions is, do these kits work with hydraulic brakes? And how?

I've never found the need for hydraulic as the mechanicals I've used have always done the job well enough where I'm not inclined to change. I would think though, that there are calipers that might not work due to interference. That's a guess though....

Worth mentioning I think, is that I'm 300lbs, and the bike is often used in a coastal area with a fair share of decent sized hills, the worst of which feature stop signs at the bottom....

For BBS01 250W motor speeds, under 20 mph, the rim brakes should do OK. It does depend on your riding needs. If I rode in very hilly spots maybe I need the best brakes, but it's flat here. I have one non electric bike with hydraulics so I know how excellent brakes feel, but the ebikes I ride have rim brakes or mechanical disks and I am equally happy with either.

I think I am going for a known brand with hydraulic discs

Yup, like that!

Just to make sure before I press the buy button on that Bafang. That bike has the crank https://bike.shimano.com/en-US/product/component/tourney-tx800/FC-TX801.html which should have a threaded 68mm long bottom bracket. Reading about compatiblity here https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=80319 I think that should be the right one, no?

FME, a 68 mm BB is far preferable to 73 mm since you can use the "jam" nut to back up the nut on the BB. I had trouble with the "one nut" design loosening even with Locktite. Also, for me, linear brakes are adequate.

Thanks, I am not worried about the 68mm but the inner diameter. It requires a 35mm diameter but can't find no information on that. Seems like that's a standard??

I'll have the hydraulic brakes... So I need two of those sensors with at least 120cm cables I think.
