Sabvoton SVMC072150 controller review, variable regen *PICS*

I am getting the same result as BionicBlitz. I only have the iPhone app and bluetooth dongle to configure it. Do I need to try get hold of a windows laptop? Anyone know if the windows exe will work on windows 7 OS and does anyone have the right usb drivers for it ? I have been able to use the high brake setting, but cannot get the variable to work ( 2nd throttle plugged into it ).

Usd drivers might work or might not work with win7.
Exe will work on win7.
Drivers are available on net. If you don't find I can share usd drivers from my disk.
Just try it.

Thanks for the advice and the link. I have downloaded the contents of that drive so you can remove link now, cheers. I had to do that on my mac and I will try, when I get the chance, to transfer contents with a thumb drive to the win7 bootcamp install on my old macbook pro which is not on the net. I did manage to get a version of Sabvoton exe loaded on that but when I tried the usb drivers from QS motors links, it told me it failed. I haven't however tried yet to connect that to the motor controller. I will get to that and try again with your files. Big thanks for your link, even if it doesn't work, its very much appreciated. Cheers.

getting the driver to work is a bit of a pain. for me it took lotsssss of messing around. i think in the end what got it working for me is (on Windows 10) go to "device manager" ---> coms and L... something ---> find the device that pops up when yiu plug the sabvoton cable into the pc (the bigger end of the cord goes into the computer) then right click and go to drivers and "search for online update"

if you cant get the decice to show up under "COMS and L.. whatever it is" and insteac it pops up under usb decices with a caution sign for me the soloution was to disable windows 10 virus protection theres two things you have to disable to do so and it turns back on when you power off your computer... if none of that works try running it as administrator or try a different installer.

and im sure youll have issues with getting the controller to connect to the pc even after you get that to work. its a bit of a pain

there should be be no issues once get get usb driver and app installed.
It is a pc porn. Sound complicated and i know you not alone encountering such things.
Some just can't make app to get installed on pc no matter windows version.

Finally I have been able to activate the variable regen braking on my SVMC048150 (haven't tried yet with my 72150, I don't need that much speed on my very low cruiser frame,as yet still an unfinished build project and can't get over a speed bump, check the pic  ). Big thank you to minde28383 for his files access. Turns out I think my original install of usb drivers on my Bootcamp Win7 OS did work........ but it helps if you get the controllers usb cable plugged into the computer the RIGHT way around.... doh! As soon as I turned it around, the drivers finished their install and then it was just playing with the communication ports in the controller program till I found the one that works.
However my original install of that controller program did not give me the options required to activate that variable regen and it was minde28383's copy of that program that worked for me (thanks mate). As a bonus I now also, have been able to activate the motor temp sensor, and even more amazingly, I now get temp readouts for the motor on the MQCON iPhone bluetooth app, wahoo! So that's an unexpected bonus. Again, thank you to all for their input here.

Does someone have the sabvoton windows software and if so can you post a link or send it to my email, I’ll let you know it (my email) when you can confirm you can send it thanks

Found this webpage today, with a mod at the bottom of the page to hot rod the controller. 72150

Cant seem to make my controller run slower changing the DC currents and the phase currents, only works when changing the motor speed percentage but this makes the motor run hot, any input would be helpful I’m running a 96120 controller

Run controller slower? How does it is even possible. What do you mean?

Does anyone know if the wrong programming setup makes the motor and controller run warm?

Hello there! total nube to the forum. If this is earlier in thread, let me know. I have browsed this thread it is a great spot for trouble shooting!
I have built a couple of e-bikes in the past using cheapo controllers and I decided to get the 72150 off of amazon.
I originally hooked it up without a motor hall sensor and it was throwing an error.
I got the Hall hooked-up, started troubleshooting.

I cant get any throttle signal on the Phone app, but I am getting variable voltage at the connector (.8 -4.2V). The app just shows .04 to .05 (floating, I think. no change when i sweep the throttle). Throttle is your standard 5V hall sensor

Has anybody had this issue with this controller?
I am all finished with the bike and fab and I would hate to have to cut it out the mounts and change back to the cheapos.
Wires i dont have hooked up:
Rx (not going to)
Tx (not going to)
reverse (not going to)
Crime Signal (not going to)
Antitheft (not going to)
Boost (not going to)
Brake for high level (Will use)
Electric lock (not going to)

added note: I have done the temp bypass with a 1k resistor to ground and the motor temp is reading 0C.
No faults on the App

When i manually spin the motor, the values are in reverse. spin forward, neg rpms. I flipped the phase wires and no change.
Can some one link me to the manual and the PC programming app. I dont think I fried it, but I would like to run through the installation manual and make sure it isnt anything stupid.
I have a 16s battery with about 50Ah. I have set my voltages, current limits are moderate and all values save.

High voltage pops when it is connected (typical) and HV enable wire pops when it is turned on. not as bad as the Main HV. Is this standard?

I returned the one I had and got a new controller.

ok, I got the motor to turn during the hall test, but it is crawling.
it takes about 3 minutes to run the test and always fails.

I tried multiple motor parameters 300-3000. It just changes the tone coming out of the hub. it only pulls .25 amps when it is testing
test amps were tested from 10A-30A.
Maybe I have a bad hall sensor?

Does anybody have a crystalyte rhs3540? I dont know what to put in for the motor parameter.
Does anybody have the manual or the PC EXE?

Im at a loss with this controller.
Still no throttle voltage on the app even though it is at the controller side of the connector

It might help to change the order of the phase wires, you need to try all combinations. If that does not work you should change the order of the hall wires as well. I think there are 36 combos in total. Google: Hall and phase wire combinations.
Here is a chart for just the phase wires: https://i.imgur.com/GsugRE9.jpg. But from what I understand it might also take some hall wire combinations testing.

Hi All.
Firstly, first post so definitely needs a comment about how much amazing useful info I've had from you guys already! I'm less than a year into all things wheels and volts - loving it. This is a quick question about the SVMC72150 and regen braking. Page.jpg
This is the options page for braking in the software I have (no idea what version it is). I seem to be missing the dropdown for choosing variable regen braking. Do I need later software for this? I cannot seem to find it. The regen charge/slide function is working fine as is the +12V (purple wire) high brake. I also have the controller with a 3-wire connector (red, brown, black) for the 0-5V brake but when I connect a 5V thumb throttle, nothing! This is whether I have all brake options enabled in the software and apply my (12V, purple wire) brakes before using the thumb throttle.
I have my thumb throttle wires (red black white) connected to (red black brown) in that order but not sure if that's right or I could hurt anything by connecting a 5V throttle wrong, I'm guessing not!
Any help appreciated!

Haha, found it! Lol.

Thanks josephm15234

Time to do some tinkering...

Hello, I received a Sabvoton with a Julet connecter and no wiring. I cut it off it has 9 wires inside, I have no idea which is which.Black, Grey and red: Throttle? Brown, green, white, purple , Blue and yellow no clue.

Anyone else here have a 96120 controller? Was wondering what battery max people are using on this controller 22s, 23s or 24s.

does anyone have documentation or photos of the internal pad locations for hi-brake, 0-5v regen input and/or motor temp input? My 72100 controller doesn't have any of those wires.. can't believe I paid >$200 for a controller with NO brake regen capability out of the box.. POS!

ebrake.jpgMQCON v2.1 is reporting my low brake input as electronic brake but at least free-wheeling on a stand it doesn't feel like it is slowing the motor at all.. as a matter of fact even the slide regen doesn't feel like it works free-wheeling
