Votol EM-100 & EM-150 controllers

Nice that thread shifts to flux wekaning again.
I'd really like to gain some more understanding of those values
  • Flux-Weakening compensation
  • Flux-Weakening Value (in 6 different positions)
  • The %-Figures in the Three-speed box
  • Phase current

I think the phase angle shift setting at 60 degrees is already slightly advanced from neutral. This creates field weakening.

Ah, :!: :?:
When I look to this figures, labelled "without flux weakening" by QS
HTB12llJX7P2gK0jSZPxq6ycQpXaY.jpg

in my eyes they resemble typical characteristics of flux weakening, anyway:

  • constant torque only up to ~ 1500 rpm
  • hyperbolic falling torque and ~ constant power between 1800 and 4000 rpm

Just looking at the chart, I might have said that flux weakening were active above 1500 rpm.
Might the advanced phase angle shift be the cause of this behaviour?

But anyway, what does the 100%-value in the speed settings refer to?
no-load rpm? which is 4350 in this case?

Come on, guys, let's knit some clothes for the naked emperor

Impossible to say without an oscilloscope.

I have a small DS203.
OK, it's more a toy than a professional grade osci, but I could even attach it to the bike wihle driving.
Might this help to gain more insight to all those opaque figures we keep on questioning here?

Its got 2 analog channels and another two digital ones.
So I cannot measure eg hall, phase voltage and phase current the same time.
But I think I could try to use hall voltage to trigger one of digital inputs so I might get phase angle relations that way for all three values in consideration.

I think I'll provide a shunt in one of the phase wires. Well, the wire itself may do the job.
I have some hall based current sensors and current transformers as well, but I'm not sure how they affect presicison of timing.

hm ... the phase terminals will jump from 0 to V-batt, maybe plus some spikes.
Shunt voltage is in the mV, and halls are said not to like overvoltage.
So still some thinking required, regarding signal conditioning....

a bit offtop, thank you all for the advice!
Votol is running as hard as it can \m/

3-speed set:
1. 50% (give someone a bike)
2. 100% (hours of fun in mud)
3. 100% + flux weakening (for max speed)

Such a nice build.... nice
between speed 2 and 3, have you noticed any difference in torque ??

not off topic at all imho
That's the spec, that' where it starts and where the settings are supposed to go to.
As people said, it all goes together, holystick or so, they called it

You run the QS 138 on the Votol 150?
May I ask you for your transmission rate and your battery data?

not yet, there was only one ride for now)))
however in theory, 3rd gear should have more rpm and same torque

Others in this thread , refuse to share screen shots. So do you mind sharing page 1, 2 and 3 ?

Reduction drive is made to decrease rpm 1:2, then sprockets 15:50, so in the end 6.7 reduction ratio.
(may be later we will replace rear sprocket to 52)

Battery 22s, 55Ah (prismatic)

let's continue to discuss bike at following thread:

Here is a config file 22s_Config.ini

Screenshots a bit later =)

Thanks my Friend. So you are using 22s on votol em150 ?

UPDATE : LOL... when I try to import your parameters in the votol software, it gives me some crazy numbers.... very buggy software

@larsb Which manual are you reading from?

I've been using the 2000w motor with em100 controller a little bit now but cannot seem to make the throttle response sharper in controller settings, is this just the nature of a low kv motor without reduction drive? I have switched off soft start which helped a bit and have also tried softstart enabled set at 16 which seems the same to me.

when riding it doesn't feel like deadband in the throttle but like a lagged build up of power which feels quite unexpected and hard to get used to, has anyone experienced similar?

The thing is that there are a lot of software versions for Votol:
VOTOL-EM-V3 Software Debugging(CAN)-6
votol 1.jpg

VOTOL-EM-V3 Software Debugging(IO19)
votol 2.jpg

VOTOL-EM-V3 Software Debugging

Here is config for "VOTOL-EM-V3 Software Debugging" from latest KTM build

Finally...

First power up, of the Em150 - qs mid drive 3000w combo......

I could change the throttle endpoints, without any problems.... So nor my settings are "start throttle" 0.5v and Full speed is 5.02v, and it seems to work perfect.
As of now, i´m hitting arround 6000 rpms, in "sport" mode, what do other have ??
Thanks

I also get about 6000 rpm. Be careful at that rpm, i got some cutouts and loss of control last time i maxed the rpm without load

Yes... Without load is usually not very good. Now moving on to test on the road.
