is this legit? About to pull the trigger, the stats look great.

While it is doubtful that the 21700 cells are made in the Tesla Giga factory where Panasonic makes them in house they could be the same type cells made in China. It's kind of vogue to splash the Tesla name around in the e market place...However that is a hell of a price for a 19.2ah battery with 21700 cells. My 17ah one I bought last year was $400. If I needed another battery I'd go for it.

The actual Tesla batteries are not available to the market.

Best case "similar to"

If they are genuine, maybe a good deal, but not where high **power** density is required.

If anyone does order from this new seller, would be great if they could post a testing / teardown review.

Personally I would only order from Chinese suppliers that have been well recommended by trusted members over a period of time.

How much on shipping ? They're trying to say Tesla like cells that's a 18650 cell and that's the only like there is to Tesla. Same format only. Smoke and mirrors. A complete BMS ?

Plainly states in the specs it is a 21700 cell. Tesla has switched to 21700 cells btw.

Looks like INR21700-48G is a Samsung cell

It's a good priced pack if cells are legit, but I would not trust someone who calls Panasonic-Tesla a Samsung cell.

I purchased a few 21700 cells from ebay seller tonycu41 https://tinyurl.com/y3yqexaz Not received them yet.

Stated they are new from an unused 'pack', one year old. It's doubtful they came from a genuine Model 3 pack because the model 3 cells i've seen have a bare metal shell & recessed positive terminal (no button). Model 3 pack cells are also epoxied together and difficult to separate. At $3 each, I figured these might be usable.

Question: I realize that most like cells have a vent, but to what extent are they moisture resistance? Rain exposure?

The listing itself has no mention of tesla at all, what do you think?

This one does (same seller): https://tinyurl.com/yyfftcma
He also states they originally came from a "pack"

He is a straight up liar... Also from cali... Might be Eric from luna.

Battery world is crowded with liars and crooks. I have seen some new 2170 cells at 1$ a piece in 1000 pk from China. Is there someone naïve enough to believe they are genuine?

I think it is safe to say for unbundled and new cells the "Tesla" descriptor is a red flag, avoid.

Buying secondhand packs from a scrapped wreck different story

IF you manage to find genuine Tesla cel’s, be advised that there is no fuse in the battery..

FWIW, I received the 21700 cells I bought from tonycu41. I didn't have much of time today to fool with them, but I did a manage to perform a brief sampling with one cell.

As received 3.62V, I charged it to 4.10V @ 750mA then waited 30 min before loading it. After one hour loading at 1.25A, it measured 3.88V @ 79f ambient (cell temp never increased above ambient, as expected). Not much to go on, I realize, but it's all I've got right now. When time permits, more lengthy and controlled sampling (at 5A>), is, of course, planned.
