70V-ish PSU advice

Hi all,

I'm looking for a AC mains to DC power supply of about 70V (min 66V) to power a 360W FRNSI DC6006L adjustable PSU. I'm not sure what is the maximum it can take, need to open it up, but spec says 70V. I have to assume it has 80V caps, but I'll check.

After googling, ebay and alibaba, looking at the prices of what is labeled as PSU, I was disapointed in the pricing - even if they offer more settings than I need. Now I'm focusing on 16-17s 4.2V chemistry battery chcargers. There are of course lots of possibilities, but I'm not looking at professional stuff, quite the opposite. I'm looking for ideas, thoughts advice, my level is amateur electronics diyer.

A battery charger turns off after charging is finished.

Just buy two 36V LED sources like meanwell elg or hlg nd put them in series.

Thanks dominik, that looks like a great shout. When they say 36V, I suppose they actually mean 36V, not some weird range like for li-ion cell packs, right?
 
Yes, for LI chemistries the distinction between a PSU and charger is the auto-termination of the charge cycle based on a "smart" judgment of the target battery being Full.

Without that there is greater risk of harm, reduced longevity from overcharging and even fire.

A great charger example is Grin Satiator

#7205 "36V-84V" outputs 20-103V, 4-5A (360W)

About $300

...

If you know of a reliable (not cheap Chinese) HVC circuit, your FNIRSI DC6006L PSU will perhaps be just as good.

2x Mean Well HLG-240H-36 in series as input.

But by the time you're done how much money saved.

Kluge of components cobbled together rather than all in one.

And lower reliability, shorter lifespan.

Why do you think that's needed, on your final output unit?
 
Meanwell HLG or ELG 36 means 36v at the output. And it is also adjustable in a small range.

The point is, two in series to act as a 70V source feeding the OP PSU.

Adjust from 36V to 72V ,not so small
