This is what I would consider a very cool looking design! Put a 5000 watt shoemaker drive on THIS!!

It would pass alright.... pass right by everything! I bet a design similar to this with a more comfortable saddle/chest pad and a small bubble fairing would be very efficient and very fast!

No disrespect, I just think all the recumbent style two wheelers I have seen are very goofy looking, and yet they could look so cool!

the only time it would pass anything is when you're going downhill because there's no pedals on it. No pedals, no bike.

You say all the two wheel bents are goofy looking. Have you seen the Raptobike Lowracer? I would think they would be just as fast as the downhill roller thing . . . even downhill.

I'll take one of those over the downhill roller thing any day.

That is almost the opposite of a recumbent, which would be a prone bike.

The only thing prone has going for it is effective lung capacity. You have more areas of your lungs diffusing oxygen to your vasculature in the posterior. Patients who are suffering from severe hypoxemia are put on beds that will put them in a prone position and it a lot of cases it works to supply more oxygen for the body.

Never pedaled a bike prone, but instincts telling me unless your in the water and suspended like a swimmer, your body's not going to make it happen. Those prone pads as helpful as they may be, still probably would be uncomfortable.

Ok I didn't know the name of the style... Thanks! I still think its cool, the couple other probes are decent but not as sleek.

hehe. that gravity bike made my knees hurt just watching it get rolling.
BUt it looked cool to me too.....

I really like the "look" of the low racer recumbents. prolly crash myself into oblivian on one but the ride looks low, fast & ready for some straight line speed!
I really need to plagerise onr of these soon:

I'm with whiplash, while it may be completely pointless and impossible to commute on, it is more of the sport, think bobsled and luge... both are basically going downhill as fast as possible, that one is just a variation. While it may not do anything but downhill, be highly dangerous and not so comfortable, it would also be insanely fun to ride.

Maybe I'm just suicidal, but those kind of things get the adrenalin pumping, and whatever gets that stuff flowing, I like. The more dangerous it is, the more chance I have of getting myself killed if I stuff up, the more likely I am to try something. Knowing that the only thing between you and death is your own skill and ability is how you know you are alive.

If you are rating it as a bike, it sucks, but if you are rating it as a product it is in the same category as snowboarding, skiing, bungy jumping, skydiving, longboarding, the list goes on. Pointless in the scheme of things, but fun none the less.

Exactly!!

I discoverd Mr Malrics blog a couple years ago while researching some carbonfiber designs...way before he started Zockra factory.

He has some really nice lines on his creations.

Wow, nice links Thud! Hadn't heard of or seen Zockra recumbents before.
Kind of racing meets artforms - something the French would appreciate.

My brother has the carbon Lightning R84 recumbent, but not as artsy as this.
I'm not a fan of the tiller steering, and the Lightning is more upright or day to day.

Electrified, with full sock fairing scores very high for overall efficiency.

Sam Whittingham 2008 World's Fastest Bicycle 82.33 mph!

Well not that fast of course! But not too shabby on long distance records.

He got his recumbent used from one of the four relay guys who set the
2004 RAM relay record across crossing the US in under 5 days 8 hours :!:

That was w/o motor. The motor is in progress... 8)

As Chalo and others have said, it's not a recumbent. I'd recommend editing your thread title to reflect that it's a prone bike, not recumbent. ;)

I also agree with others that I wouldn't want anything to do with riding it...there are days that I might find it fun to watch someone *else* ride it and faceplant/crash, though. :(

I know there are lots of people that find such dangerous things fun, though so I'll let them enjoy this bike. :)

Wow! Under 18lbsthe for the whole bike! Pretty amazing!

At first I thought it was a cheap Tron wannabe, with him pushing to get going. After watching the video, I can see It's well designed for what it does. It would feel like a hyper light cafe racer. Needs a serious brake overhaul though. This would be a blast going down a mountain road with just gravity as your locomotion. I wouldn't want it as an ebike, not practical.

It's really not even a bike.

No pedals, no bike.

It's a gravity roller.

If I had to classify it, I'd call it a two wheel, prone skate board.

LOL, looks like a sex table!

They all remind me of this..........LOL

No thank you.
But hey, some people like it that way.
So I won't bag on any of these designs.
