Enclosed pedal electric tadpole trike

I bought Quest velomobile last autumn. It was one of the first made, meaning it is old and that's why it was relatively cheap. I had to do a lot of fiber glass repairs- During these winter months the project has been on hold. When I get more motivation I'm going to paint the velomobile red, and start repairing cables and such. I have not yet found suitable electric motor to install in it. Basically any smallish mid drive motor that can be used as left side drive would be fine. I heard that velomobiles don't need more than 150 -300 watts to get crazy speeds. I was thinking about GNG gen 2 with modified mounting and Cycle Analyst. I admit that this velomobile is not very practical. it has large turning radius, and entering and exiting the vehicle is a bit tricky, but this velomobile is one of the fastest and streamlined on european market. I even bought a racing hood, it's like a aeroplane cockpit.

92-pound vehicles have an aluminum frame with a lightweight cover attached to keep the elements off the rider and whatever is in its modest trunk. On its roof is a 60-watt solar panel that can be used to trickle-charge its lithium iron phosphate battery.

That battery is good enough for about 30 miles of range, though people can travel farther if they pedal. The company also offers an optional upgrade with a second battery for longer range.

With that option and others such as a higher-powered solar panel or continuously variable transmission, the price rises to somewhere between $5,000 and $6,000

I know this one does not have pedals but I think its one of the best looking designs out there, and adding pedals would be pretty easy..

Not too bad on the price either..

Taylor at Velocity Velos in Cottage Grove, OR makes velos and velomobile kits out of the Blue Sky Designs Dreadnaught shell. http://velocityvelos.com I met him on the Roll Over America Tour in 2011. He had a Eco Speed kit in it at the time. The longest day was 164 miles from Lewiston, ID to Missoula, MT over Lolo Pass. He didn't seem to have any trouble keeping up.

Well, the price of the ELF went up before production started. I assume the kickstarter funded ones sold for their listed $4000 base. With options many people will want, including the NuVinci N360 and a ruggedized solar panel and extra 48v10Ah LiFEPO pack and all the trim it looks like it can top out at $7000.

Unfortunately jmygann is no longer with us. He was supposed to take delivery of an ELF but I do not believe he got to enjoy it.
