Hi Guys has anybody any experience of the GNG 60V650W MID DRIVE KIT

http://www.gngebike.com/60v650w-brushless

I'm looking to do my first E bike build & this seems tasty & good value!? I was thinking of for 4 packs of the ZIPPY Flightmax 8000mAh 4S1P 30C but think this is probably to low on capacity.. Any thoughts an a more suitable setup?

Thanks in advance

Jon

Many thanks for that.. Lots of info to swat up on there!

I think I'm correct in saying the GNG crank freewheel assembly is a week point & through searching the ACS Crossfire Freewheel which I think is more durable I came across this..

The Firm is based in the UK which may (or may not be beneficial to me)..

Uses a Kelly controller & Would seem to have a fair bit of power.. Not sure about a planetary motor though.

All comments welcomed

Oh and a quick edit I think the Kit in the UK Listing is the same as the Sick Bike parts one..

Those two kits are a bit different when it comes to the chainring set ups. The sickbikeparts one is a dual ring while the eclipsebike one is a triple. Of course, for both of them, one of the rings is occupied by the motor.

The freewheel pictured in the eclipsebike is a standard 5 hole freewheel which are typically bottom of the barrel. I don't know if what's pictured is actually what they give you since they refer to it as a "heavy duty freewheel." It looks a lot like the base model freewheel offered by sickbikeparts. The 10 hole freewheel on the sickbikeparts kit is probably an ACS clone.

What kind of riding do you intend on doing? The GNG chainring is typically good for commuting and some mild dirt path riding (no jumps). You can also upgrade the standard 16T freewheel inside it if necessary. The GNG and the two kits you've linked both use really long square taper spindles which are prone to bending under harsh bumps and jumps.

Do you already have RC charging equipment and a way to monitor the cells? If not, you may want to consider an off the shelf 10Ah battery or higher. RC batteries are affordable very energy dense, but can be more complicated and may have a higher start up cost for a new user.

Is a genuine ACS freewheel the toughest / best way to go? to replace the part that comes in these kits? What alternative is there to using the long square tapered shaft? Are we talking about one made of something tougher or a shorter or splinned type?
I'll be putting whatever setup i go for on to one of my old DH mountain bikes and would like to ride it hard.. So I think I better BEEF things up first as last.

Many thanks
