ES Investors Club

Oh goody... Magpies and humans etc love "pretty things"? So just this morning I was using my gold toothpick... Curious whether there is such a thing as a "gold investor" any more... One recent "price of gold" report seen here:
http://www.marketwatch.com/story/three-warning-signs-from-higher-gold-prices-2014-02-26

Yah, hah, I know that wall on that street in NYC sometimes does come "crashing" (down, I assume), but from that article:
The price has risen 10% since Christmas

So I'm curious...

How much of our little ES Investors pot of money might we speculate in gold? Any leprechauns about?

PS... It's my teeth that have some gold in them, silly!

Nice read on the marketwatch story....should be interesting week for Gold. 150 thousand Russian troops on the Ukraine boarder. My boy is Washington says.... "Russia’s continued violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity would negatively impact Russia’s standing in the international community,”. Makes me shake in my boots...how about you??

Vladimir despises everything about him, especially because he's just a "want a be" thug for the western money changers....(even Nelson M ditched him from his death bed) This whole thing about Syria and Ukraine is about natural gas

I digress...Gold. Got my attention last year when I saw there was none available on Tulving.com (the Asians bought it all the first time it hit 1300). I always thought a good hobby would be to sell all that stuff I no longer use on eBay(old fishing reels and used parts from work) and buy silver coins with the proceeds. But, like everyone else, I'm just distracted..... Like, wade fishing this evening...water temp 76f with 82f outside.

Elon Musky...made my week with his plans to build his Gigafactory. orocf bumped up and put me in the black.

All the best...time to unplug and load the gear...sure beats owning a boat:)

Hey West Palm Beach (One ugly rumour circling, that some ebikers may or may not have chopped down all the palm trees to burn, to turn water to steam and spin electric generators.)

Yah, makes me kinda nervous `bout taking my two gold tooth caps out in pubic (sp?) EVery day.

"Shake in my boots"? Ya, but for some us maybe, "nations" and "borders" are totally "passe" (in case any "French" are reading this).

Besides, "nations" tend to attract "politicians" (almost nEVer a good thing).

Anyway... re gold, seen here:
http://www.mining.com/ukraine-to-begin-gold-mining-this-year-59281/
In part:
The Ukraine will begin large-scale commercial gold mining this year, reports BullionStreet.

The country is estimated to have resources of about 400 tonnes in the western Carpathian Mountains and 500 tonnes in the southeastern Donbas region.

The areas around the central city of Kirovohrad, the southeastern city of Dnipropetrovsk and the Crimea are said to have additional deposits.

Mining is expected to be focus on the western and central areas of the country.

In three to five years, the country is forecasted to output at least one tonne of gold.

In breaking news, huge gold deposits discovered in Canada. Come on, President Vlad (any relation to that impaler guy?), come and invade us! (I am just trying to spread an ugly rumour here.)

Sooo... How much gold (plated wire connections, etc.) d'you think might be in that musky-smelling Tesla?

"...load the gear...sure beats owning a boat:)"

Watt??? I have loaded "gear" aboard many boats in my life. Take that back (landlubber)! Hehe... Sorry.

ES members only need to know one truth about investing and that is: The elite are members of the club and you ain't.

Yah, butt I hope to see ES folks make TONS of dinero/money/cashola. Hopefully to buy a whole island (no fossil fuels allowed).

Gold up 2.2% today.

Talked to my broker today. He wants me to buy stocks at their 52 wk high(he calls them "momentum plays"). I think the next quarter will not be good in terms of growth..."pent up demand" from being home bound all winter....being eroded by high heating cost(I'm sure you'll attest to that)

Got no answers...curious what dnman has to say about the Refining MLP's. He a bright guy, with lots of thoughts about the oil business. I hold CVRR and ALDW...pretty beat up. At least they give some income, but not too much lately:(

On a UP note...got paid to fish today. Scouted the spot on the eBike yesterday afternoon...went back in today and found the 30 pound'rs putting holes in the water. My angler couldn't cast if his life depended on it, so we had to settle for smaller fish on the troll. At least I was back at the dock early and no blood to clean. Easy $$

Well, it's been a while since we've heard from ABAT (only three hits on a search through the EB (Ebikers Bible).

Advanced Battery Technologies, Inc. (OTCMKTS:ABAT) seen here:

(Funnily enough on a web site named "Hot Stocks"...)

In part:
Advanced Battery Technologies, Inc. (OTCMKTS:ABAT, ABAT message board) has been climbing the charts since Monday. The company's market value swelled by more than 90% in just three sessions – all on the news of the construction of the new Tesla Motors, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) battery manufacturing facility in North America. ABAT stock is presently traded for $0.86, but is the investor's enthusiasm and trust in the company really warranted?

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/lithium-exploration-group-announces-successful-demonstration-testing-of-ultrasonic-generator-2014-03-10?reflink=MW_news_stmp

In part:
SCOTTSDALE, AZ, Mar 10, 2014 (Marketwired via COMTEX) -- Lithium Exploration Group Inc. (otcqb:LEXG) announced today additional successful testing of the Sonic Cavitation Ultrasonic Generator in Houston, TX, this past Friday, March 7, 2014. The prior round of successful testing was completed on February 12, 2013, in Houston.

The Ultrasonic Generator was run for 3.5 hours without mechanical or power related issues. Cavitation reaction was again controlled, with increases in temperature from an initial 50 degrees F, quickly to 212 degrees F (the temperature for changing the state of liquid), and well beyond. "We were able to create 50 times the amount of steam produced in our February testing, utilizing a maximum of 38% of the generator motor's power, reaching a high of only 23KW of energy," noted Dr. Victor Glotov, the inventor of the technology, who personally led last week's testing.

LEXG stocks improved nicely:

Market Analysis of over 140 Lithium based Rechargeable Battery Manufacturers: Chemistry, Strategy, Success ResearchMoz include new market research report "Analysis of over 140 Lithium-based Rechargeable Battery Manufacturers: Chemistry, Strategy, Success: Industry Analysis, Size, Share, Growth, Trends And Forecast" to its huge collection of research reports.

Seen here:
http://www.prweb.com/releases/2014/03/prweb11662086.htm

And:
Albany, NY (PRWEB) March 12, 2014

This report concerns lithium-based rechargeable batteries.

Predominantly, they are lithium-ion but we also cover alternatives usually with no intercalation and using lithium metal. All serious analysts predict that these will be responsible for the majority of expenditure on rechargeable batteries over the coming decade, notably in the lithium-ion form. It is therefore important for those making, designing in and using such batteries to understand the variations emerging and their potential for success or failure. Unfortunately, even comprehensive listings of manufacturers and intending manufacturers are hard to find. This report clarifies the situation, revealing the product chemistry, strategy and electric vehicle success of manufacturers and intending manufacturers.

Interesting maybe. GenCorp. Inc. bought out Aerojet Rocketdyne, stuff seen back in June last year here:
http://www.americaspace.com/?p=37587

Stuff like:
Last week, California-based Aerojet and Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne—the two premier rocket-power providers in the United States—finalized their merger, almost a year after it was first announced. GenCorp, Inc., the aerospace and technology firm which has owned Aerojet since 2005, declared Monday 17 June that it had completed the $550 million purchase of PWR from parent company United Technologies Corp. The pair have now been relaunched as “Aerojet Rocketdyne,” and GenCorp has pledged the U.S. government that the merger will save $100 million each year.

...and that crazy Motley Fool guy said last December:
"GenCorp Stock Could Explode on New Nuclear Bomb Contract"

... and sure enough, GenCorp prices have been mostly trending up nicely per Yeehaw (sp?):

Solvay researched production of lithium-ion battery materials

The start of the priority project LIFE + GLEE, which is geared towards the sustainable use of water instead of organic solvents in the production of rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, has the Solvay Specialty Polymers SA, Brussels, announced. The environmental project is supported by the European Commission under the EU program LIFE (LIFE12 ENV IT 000712).

With the project, the company wants in the sustainable production of Li-ion batteries are trying to replace it with water, the organic solvents. The cathode protection technique when manufacturing the cathode active material of the contact is prevented with water. According to the manufacturer, this method does not present toxic risks and reduces the required for the recovery and purification of solvents manufacturing costs.

Pilot plant will be operational by 2015

At the headquarters of the Research and Innovation Centre in Bollate (Italy) a pilot plant for the production of Li-ion battery materials business will be built, which is expected to be ready for Expo 2015 in Milan.

Oh goody. We haven't had a "lithium explorer" perhaps since Michael Stanley Whittingham, an American chemist that first discovered the concept of intercalation electrodes in lithium-ion.

"Stria: lithium explorer set to ride the wave of the future", here:
http://www.proactiveinvestors.com/companies/news/52708/stria-lithium-explorer-set-to-ride-the-wave-of-the-future-52708.html

Including:
According to a 2012 report prepared for the Mining section of Environment Canada, global lithium production came to 25,350 tonnes in 2010, while demand for the putative “holy grail battery material” is expected to rise to over 500,000 tonnes by mid-century.
