Apparently, Currie has discontinued the SLA equipped eZip Trailz model in favor of the eZip Trailz Commuter.

Downside?
$749 ... up from $449!

Upside?
10Ah SLA replaced by 9.6Ah Li-ion = 200% range & 500% usable cycles - nearly worth the extra cost, in itself!
Fenders - helps keep the brown streak off the middle of your back.
Chaingaurd - helps keep your pant leg clean.
Suspension seat post - much more comfortable ride!
Wrap around handlebars - makes upright seating possible.
Alloy hubs
Stainless steel spokes

Beware! Some sellers are trying to sell the old SLA model for the same price as the new Li-ion model. Read descriptions carefully!

Much better than the old model ...

I would get one for myself ... to try and evaluate ..
But the new battery style uses different contacts, thus negating compatibility with by enhanced battery builds.
Maybe ... if they hit a really good sale price ...

Already thou ... I am willing to recommend to anyone looking to get started with electric bikes.
My previous reservations were due to the loathsome SLAbatts!
Best of all, it is still modable by regearing, for higher speed or more torque!

Neighbor has ordered a sample and will be bringing to me for ... enhancements.

He will be using as a commuter.
Improvements might include:
11T mod for 20mph
Corporal tires - Kevlar belt, reflective sidewall, better all-condition tread pattern
More comfortable grips and seat
Higher Amperage charger

Should get a chance to check and evaluate within a week

All reasonable priced sources of eZips have dried up.
Even Walmart is "Out of Stock" on all the popular models.

Either, very popular, or China is keeping all the newer - better versions for themselves?

Nope.
Just end of season.
2014 production runs usually wind down after Interbike.
Winter is coming.

Any discharge information on the battery curious to see how it handles with 350W.

Damn!
Looks like the entire eZip bicycle line has been retired-discontinued!
Currie now lists:
the iZip
the eFlow
and the new
Haibike

Mid drive Bosch through 10speed rear end

Hi, I'm new to the forum and am happy to find it. I'm looking to replace the batteries on two e-zip trailz commuter bikes and I'm having a hard time finding replacements. They are LI batteries. I hate to throw out good bikes just because replacement batteries aren't available, can you suggest any resources?

See -Homemade Battery Packs - eZips

Are batteries 7s Lithium ion or 8s Lithium iron?
Matching cell type will allow using charger, charging and management circuits (inside battery pack.)

7s Lithium (25.9V) works nicely
Just found 7s 25.9V high output Lipo packs. $60 per 5Ah.
10Ah will fit easily 25.9V = $120
15Ah will fit 25.9V = $180
20Ah will fit 25.9V = $240
Unknown quality! Use testing procedures in above link or use pack's BMS (Battery Management System) circuit.

8S 24V will fit 2 x 12V 10A Dakota Lithium = about $200
Google search for best price.
