Hey guys I am hoping we can eventually put this in endless wiki or something but i wanted to start a reliable and trusted companies list to purchase batteries from. I hope this can take out some of the hair pulling stress one can encounter while trying to find a reliable source for your new battery build. I need your help to make this list so we are not constantly guessing what companies are good or bad reliable or untrustworthy. So please comment below and include:

1. web link

2. A brief experience you had with the company

THE TRUSTED LIST:

http://www.ebay.com/usr/supowerbattery111

http://www.em3ev.com/store/

http://www.pingbattery.com/servlet/StoreFront

http://www.ebikes.ca/shop/ebike-parts/batteries.html

http://www.ebikekit.com/e-bike-batteries/li-ion-batteries-lithium-ion/

http://calibike.com/

http://headway-headquarters.com/

http://www.chicagoelectricbicycles.com/Batteries.html

http://www.ebay.com/usr/sun-thing28

http://www.ebay.com/usr/hunk-801

http://www.rawvelocity.com/batterieschargers.html

http://www.batteryspace.com

1. http://www.hobbyking.com

2. Caution !!! I purchased some Lifepo4 batteries from this website and ended up hating myself for it. In short the discharge rating was exagerated ten fold!! I ended up returning them and recieved a full refund after a month and a half of messing with them. The only reason I put this website here was because I know many ES members who have succesfully purchased lipo cells from them that are decent.

2. Approved! This is a trusted vendor on ebay that sells battery cells from the manufacturers themselves. I had a great experience purchasing some Samsung 25R cells after that had recieved their shipment from Samsung. This vendor even provided me with a personal email to contact him with incase there was anything wrong. Needless to say this vendor has very good communication. This vendor also has FREE Tab welding services and spacers included in the price of the cell. This is a HUGE help when it comes to pack builders. This vendor is top notch to say the leastand he might even give you a discount if you say you are from this forum!

Though I've bought several thousand wh worth of batteries from Hobby King over the last 4 years, I wouldn't say they make the
"Trusted and Reliable" list at all. The make the cheap list.... And their 20c batteries work ok at 3-5c.

Trusted and reliable list is very short. There are others beside these four for sure. I just don't have a way to know it myself.

Pingbattery.com for low amps lifepo4. Good ol ping, still perfect for the low cost per mile commuter, but no longer considered a light battery compared to limn. 4 years daily use quite possible with a Ping lifepo4.

EM3ev.com for some nicer discharge rate limn-whatever it is now. He's constantly on top of whatever is the best bang cells each year.

Allcell battery in Chicago is supplying two respected kit vendors. ebikes ca, and e-bikekit.

Of course others, many may make the cheap list, others not. I'm not saying they suck, just that they don't have the numbers of ES members singing their praises as the list above.

The latest new one for US buyers, Cali battery. Sorry no link.

I have to mention DoctorBass for low buck, slightly used Sony US18650V cells. Those cells would qualify in a ''low budget'' category I think. It looks like he might be able to supply some used US18650TVC4 cells when the Makita BL1840 packs start coming in.

HobbyKing is NOT trusted and reliable at all. Avoid if possible. If you need toys from then go for it. Battery? I would stay away.

Got their nanotech and after 2 years and around 300 cycles they are shit. I get like 1/2 capacity now. I am too cheap to toss them out. So I am using them in lower power application.

Got other cells which are shit after a few cycles. And getting refund from those liars is pretty hard.

I say buy if you must. But if something is not right, open PayPal case and get your money back. Keep the bad cells as your reward.

I hit supower111's site but there are no batteries listed, only electronic stuff like BMS and chargers. Where are the batteries?

I have written this in other threads but I thought I would share here to..

I bought a calibike battery 48v 15ah and lastnight I hit 33mph with the 48v 15ah batter combined with the cheap yescomusa 1000w hub motor kit.

I am in no way an affiliate with calibike.com but I do think they have a very good pack and very good customer service.. He's also located and ships out of USA Here's the link. 500$ shipped with charger for a 48v 15ah pack is a very good deal

recieved a very fast reply from supowerbattery111 saying

We dont put battery for sale on eBay is because Lithium battery is very difficult to ship now. Many parcel being lost since May, all the shipping agents do not accept Lithium batteries. We could only ship by Commercial Express which is very expensive on shipping cost. So we dont put batteries on eBay at the moment.

They got busted shipping batteries illegally, or can't afford the bribes it takes to get em on the plane in China.

This is why a legally shipped battery is more costly. One reason I never bought another ping was the stink eye I got from the postman when the second one came.

I want to put Headway Headquarters on the list. Yesterday I was doing comparison shopping between them and 3 other suppliers and had 4 active screens up. Suddenly I had a Paypal purchase! I immediately contacted Paypal and Headway informing them of the problem. Even though it was Sunday, Headway Headquarters immediately refunded my purchase price. That is good, honest service! They are also a US company. We are planning to get new batteries soon and they will be at the top of my list. Headways(the battery) seem reliable, although heavy. This is not a problem for our trikes.

Add Chicago Electric Bicycles to that trusted vendor list. They are a small company that I bought my AllCell battery pack from and their service was good in my opinion. My pack has worked very well for several years now.

:D

I bet that's from those baloney zippy packs and not the turnigy right? I agree that HK shouldn't be on the list anyway since it's not proper ebike cell stuff.
Maybe there should be a tier 1 and tier 2 list though, because there is just a "bit ordinary" and then there is "outright dodgey" in the battery cell world, as my favourite dodgey cell video below shows.

I love this forum so much.

www.rawvelocity.com

I like them because they are Canadian and into electric guitars and ebikes, but I have no idea about their wares or service.

Can I get a yay or nay on these guys?
