A VESC would work. I use a VESC 4.12 which supports up to a 12s lithium battery. I run it with a 60A battery current limit and I do bursts of around 2500W. It helps that I have a small fan pointed at the FETs.

I do need a sensorless controller, for troubleshooting purposes and as one of my backup controllers. All my cont's are sensored.

But yeah - I am seriously thinking about an ESC for my application.
Buy from Hobbyking USA warehouse and ship it to Canada, my last order took 3 days!
The thing is, I never used no RC stuff before.
I get the general idea. ESC with BEC, a

or

and
a Servo Tester as a throttle

with a BEC or have separate battery

I bought a brushed controller, because I saw brushes in the alternator I am trying to make a motor out of. No go for that, needs to be brushless which I will edit my original post.

Its an ebike I plan to build on the cheap, going for under $100. The bike I got for free. Battery well we will see.

So I can assume then the VESC is different then what I was looking at. $90 us is quite expensive for my cheap build.

I can hold off and just wait for a Greentime sensorless controller to arrive as I came up with a solution to my problem which was how to secure my nice expensive ebike at the location of interest. Park it at the window so I can keep an eye on it and babysit it, with Ulock through r.wheel and use a movement alarm. Rather then buying $20 esc and stuff.
