I'm sorry, that was dumb of me.

When I go to the web site it quotes prices in Australian Dollars, so I presumed. But it's rather that the web site is smart.

I'm not deeply knowledgeable about used cells. I'm tracking what people with good reputations report. I prefer to avoid cells I don't know the history of - my battery is in my home.

Grin ebikes did a presentation earlier this year and attributed most battery fires to low quality cells.

I'll take the battery with used LG cells. I've purchased similar used rental scooter packs from Battery ClearingHouse. They were made in a similar fashion with a very large BMS attached directly to the cells. It probably supported GPS and wireless needed for renting and didn't work without the rest of the scooter, I also put in my own BMS. The packs worked fine. Also had no concerns about the battery construction, The cells were well mounted. Probably better than any non-branded ebike pack you buy,


The tradeoff is the form factor. You'll need to putthat battery on a rack.,

Others have addressed fire safety but one also has to consider (degraded) bicycle handling safety. I personally would always favor a centrally mounted battery over a rear rack mounted battery. Maybe that rack battery might fit in your frame triangle? Depends the size.

In my case, my triangle is small because my bicycle is small, and I have a water bottle there. I'm only 5' 4". Shorty.

So the rack makes more sense in my use case. I can mount it underneath where the panniers flap over.

Just another perspective - I run a trunk bag on top of my panniers with an extra battery inside (along with tire patch kit, tools, gloves, etc.) Side benefits are that battery is pretty much waterproof, cushioned and insulated.

I'm not sure what the weight of my bike is. It's a 2012 Chromoly Jamis Coda Comp with a carbon fork. I am 155 pounds.

Yeah but we don't have dual reductions, motor is 7.2lbs and doesn't have good power density, i don't know where i'd find a dyno graph for that motor either.

For under this weight you can get a Shengyi SX2 which would get higher efficiency and power but probably also disqualified from OP's interest due to weight.

dual reductions in the Q100H/CST will trump a small difference in RPM in a motor with a standard 5:1 gear ratio, from the POV of thermal performance & surviving this hill

Thats not true,a q100h will overheat long before the swx02 motor.I burned a q128c motor half way up an long steep offroad hill here in Norway.The same hill I climbed many times after with an swx02 48v 250 watt motor. Both motors on same bik,same controller and battery and same rpm motor.You say a lot of strange things about motors you havent even tried.Like when you said the mac motor is stronger than the mxus xf/gdr 19
