1989 Kawasaki EX500 (Ninja) - EV conversion, finished but still refining

Maybe your battery's (relative) ability to flex saved you from a fire. The way you protected it within the frame is smart too

MHD boat: Not fast. Not Efficient. But propless, silent and just plain interesting.

Toroidal props seem to do a good job of minimizing vortices too

1989 Kawasaki EX500 (Ninja) - EV conversion, finished but still refining

Sacrificial design is important. A strange balance to strike with a brake lever. If you crash it probably won't matter though, you can always print another one.

    crf450r 45kw race bike build

The firmware is open source, so controlling for every possible failure mode in different hardware setups would be pretty difficult. And the time it would take to customize the software for the 3shul controllers would drive up the price.

Should pouch cells be in constant external pressure?

I don't think you need to put any pressure on the sides of a stack of pouch cells, just 2 endplates

HESC V1 150v 600Amp VESC based motor controller

For firmware the manual just says "latest (firmware update supported)" Probably best to check with Hackey, I've reached him through Facebook messenger

HESC V1 150v 600Amp VESC based motor controller

It should work with the newest vesc firmware off the vesc website, but if the controller is one of the earlier versions, I'd doublecheck with Hackey. New firmware might fix the issue on its own

Some wider clamping torque arms might be a good idea now that you've moved up to a motor with more torque.

With force being applied to the top of the tube, the top/bottom of the tube would be in compression/tension, so I'd think any material removed would weaken it. Maybe not as much as a horizontal hole though. Also, even in the older cradle frames, I think the engine did play some role in frame...

    Zero 75-7 SPM motor - $800 - US

For sale is a 75-7 SPM motor from a 2014 zero. I got it off eBay and had to pull it apart to replace a bearing. It has been bench tested in sensorless mode and works well. Decided I want an IPM version instead. There is some light rust on the rotor and some of the heatsink fins are bent, but in...

Holes, vents, and fins were added to draw air through the motor. It works like a centrifugal fan, as the motor spins, a partial vacuum is created behind the fins, which pulls air out of the slots. The idea was originally implemented by JohnInCR, there should be a thread on it somewhere. Should...

    PowerVelocity NextGen controller [US] SOLD

Good for 30s li-ion, 300 battery A, 400 phase A. Bought them to use with a dual 3 phase hubmonster, but they seemed to be interfering with each other, and I have a zero 75-7 now anyways. They were never run under load, just bench tested. They are both the beta version, no built in precharge...

    Electric conversion of a 1984 Honda CM450

In most motors, the bearing sits in the inside of the side plate, so the plate wouldn't stop the axle from slamming the other bearing axially. If you've never damaged a motor bearing doing that then maybe it's not an issue, but letting things slam together in an uncontrolled way seems like a...

    Electric conversion of a 1984 Honda CM450

You can absolutely avoid a large bang and the massive axial thrust that you might put on the bearing if you let it slam back together. Get a large 3 jaw puller, hook the arms to the rotor and set the tip in the dimple on the end of the motor shaft/axle. If there isn't a dimple just add one with...
