home made e-bike frame. stealth fighter look a like

A seperate 12V battery needs to be recharged as well and is unnecessary weight when the lights are off. You might consider installing a DC/DC converter.

My head tube has an inner diameter of 34mm. The headset fits into it nicely. I am not an bicycle expert, but this should be the normal size for mountainbikes. I also have headway cells. However 52 cells sound like a lot. Do you have space for all them? The weight of 19kg is also to consider.

Welding looks good. What thickness and dimensions have these tubes that you use? A head tube made of CrMo steel is often 1.5mm thick. My head tube has the same thickness.

You are very talented. It took me countless hours to build my frame. You seem to be pretty fast! It is not your first project, right?

Re: Street LEGAL Custom Bomber build! :-)

Congratulations on your successful legalisation! I am building a similar bike with 2kW of power. My plan is to use a pedal sensor instead of a throttle and switch to 250W-mode when riding in the city. Changing to 2kW requres a special procedure. Even if you get pulled over by cops, you could...

home made e-bike frame. stealth fighter look a like

I have a thread that I haven't updated for a long time: http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=53234 As soon as I have the bike finished, I will post pictures etc... The fork comes from a downhill bike I bought for 600€. I am using several parts of it, as they are rigid and...

Hi, I'm building a frame that looks similar to yours: http://s1.directupload.net/images/140402/twhb9mnm.jpg I made my own swingarm. The swingarm of my downhillbike did not allow the suspension to be outside the frame. Check out this thread...

    Custom Long Tail Build

Really nice build! I wonder why this thread isn't so popular. I especially like that you built your own frame. Can you give me some aspects like the total weight of the frame, the material used, tubing timensions...

Re: Street LEGAL Custom Bomber build! :-)

I congratulate you on having it street legal soon! Can you tell some more about the way they inspected the frame? Did you have to send it away for a stiffness test?

Re: Street LEGAL Custom Bomber build! :-)

I always read on the internet that a registration of such a vehicle is impossible in Germany. If you succeed, you will become some kind of a hero. Many will follow you, including me :D

    eBike Master Switch Design

When looking at teklektik's chart, it all becomes clear to me. There's a constant value which tells you how much temperature above ambient is generated for one watt. R(OJA). The datasheet names it thermal resistance. So for every watt the MOSfets generates ( P = Id²*Rds(on) ) the MOSfet's...

    eBike Master Switch Design

So if I understood it correctly, the difficulty is to handle the heat and to have it all compact? This still doesn't sound too difficult to solve for me. Why isn't there a switch like this on the market? The cost should be low, one IRF4110 costs like 2€ or about $2. This thread seems to be...

    eBike Master Switch Design

What is so difficult about a MOSfet master switch? Your design puts the MOSfets horizontal to the board, why not put them vertically up with a proper heatsink attached? What are the other problems that make such a MOSfet master switch difficult to built?

DIY Programmable BMS (now using ATtiny/Arduino)

One cell module looks to be 25-30mm wide, right? So for a 16s, the BMS will be more than 40cm long and the mainboard will add even more. Do you plan to put it into a bicycle frame? Whats your plan

DIY Programmable BMS (now using ATtiny/Arduino)

These are good news! Your 1.2V reference has a tollerance of 1%. Are you lucky that the one you soldered in was a very precise model or did you measure the exact voltage and copied it in your firmware? You said you oversampled it to 12-bit. Does it mean you just took several measurements in a...

DIY Programmable BMS (now using ATtiny/Arduino)

Hi, it's nice to see that you are making progress. I have some questions to your circuit design: Why are you using a PNP-Transistor instead of a MOSfet? You included a Zener-diode in your design. Does it reduce voltage spikes induced by the cell? I cannot read the type of the 1.2V reference...

DIY Programmable BMS (now using ATtiny/Arduino)

Hi, I am also designing a BMS with an attiny for each cell. Will you use your BMS for yourself? My idea is similar, although I have some different approaches. This is the schematic for one cell: As you see it includes an Attiny44 that you also mentioned. It has more output pins than I need...

    Crystalyte with bent spokes

Thanks for your kind help. I sent Crystalyte the picture of a bent spoke and they offered to send me a wrench tool to straighten the spokes. Another question: The rim is an exal Ex 19 which is good for tyres with a width of 28-62 mm according to the website...

    Crystalyte with bent spokes

Crystalyte-Europe offers the lacing on their homepage. I think many customers buy them laced. I'm pretty sure the rim is of good quality since they're made especially for ebikes. The spokes are heavy duty, 13Gauge or even 12Gauge. I sent Crystalyte an Email, let's see what they tell

    Crystalyte with bent spokes

Hi, I received the package from Crystalyte Europe today with my sensored HS 3540 laced into a 26" wheel. I was a bit disappointed when I saw the spokes. Some of them are bent as you can see. I can't imagine Crystalyte hasn't noticed the curved spokes. So is it a problem or not? with...

    Johannes' custom ebike frame

Thanks. I changed the design a bit. I still have a chain tensioner, so it is probably alright if I attach the BB to the frame. My frame is 90mm wide on the bottom, so I cannot weld the 73mm-long BB-shell right onto the frame. I have no better idea than to weld a 3mm sheet steel on the frame...

    Johannes' custom ebike frame

Thanks Peter for your thoughts. You're right about the suspension. I didn't think too much about it. changed the upper part of the swingarm. The spring is now connected more towards the pivot point. I also sized up the bolt that goes trough the the bearings on the pivot point. I'm going to use...

    Designing eBike frames

I went to the bike shop and tried different mountainbikes. When you found a bike that is appropriate for you, you check the internet for frame dimensions. If these are not available, measure the wheelbase of the bike and take a picture of the bike from the sideview. Copy the image to Google...
