    From what I've read a basic rule of thumb is the carbon should be the same thickness as if you were making it from mild steel.... so in the case of a bicycle that would be between 0.8 and 1.2mm thick in most cases (for the frame tubes, thicker for the BB etc) ...I will probably go 1.5 plus to...

    OK interesting, Look forward to hearing more about your improvements - As you know I'm doing that exact thing 'building a bike around one' I think the Coax motor is a really good starting point and yes you're right in stock form it has some issues, I have a few ideas myself about some improvements.

    Screen grab from website - Looks suspiciously like a cyclone coaxial motor to me? By reading some of the other posts you have made a bunch of upgrades to it? torque sensing for one? and a custom controller of some sort? Or am I off the mark entirely?

    Does room temperature cure epoxy (the type used for wet lay up) deform with heat after it's cured? If not I wonder if the shape could be 3d printed with PLA (coated in release wax before lay up) then after curing the PLA could be heated and shrunk to be removed leaving the external carbon shape...

    Thanks for the response, Yes - you are correct, but I don't think I explained very clearly - What I mean is: I could make a group of 20 cells into a 20s 1p 'pack' then connect 8 of those 'pack's in parallel to make 20s8p OR I could make a group of 8 cells into a 1s 8p 'pack' then connect 20...

    :lol: you're probably right. For me the driver is that for the same money as a few parts would cost from a local shop I could buy an entire sheet of material and make 5x the same parts... I guess growing up reasonably poor made me put a high value on self sufficiency that I still carry with...
