The thread will be 6 years come August. Mine was off of Luna's 2nd shipping container of them. Hard to believe she's turning 5 years old! I tell everyone that dollar for dollar it was the best money ever spent.

That isn't a very fair comparison though. Could be better; could be buying problems.

Exactly. Yeah, honestly even 6KW peak power isn't an issue for me, I can get up the steepest terrain and trails tend to be quite technical and super windy in these parts. So I prefer greater agility over greater power...

I didn't say I wanted the same 4KW capacity; just more than I have now. My battery tech is 4+ years old, so I'm sure it's possible to have say 2KW/h come in lighter than my 1.5KW/h battery. The motor is fine, people been running them at peak 12KW for years. Just needs a battery with more amps...

2023 Ultra Bee 4 KW/h battery 12.5 KW peak 187 pounds Regen + Traction control Under seat trunk to hold charger MSRP $6499 I'm not going to lie; looks real nice, but I want lighter not heavier. Or same weight with more power and capacity (possible since my pack is 4+ years old). vFs947OEhac

Honestly, I think this (very crudely) is a better setup - more room for gear and less extreme angles in the panel. Thanks for your suggestion.

Thanks for the clarification. Without taking it apart, is there a way to tell how the are wired?

P.S. The panel puts out usable juice even with indirect light and/or in the shade.

I'll see how it works - can always tweak it. Not a bad suggestion - thank you. My thinking with different angles was that it is kind of an average - versus with a plane they all could be at the wrong angle.

Building a cart primarily out of the stock fork! Pic is rough layout - have plans to add a shock. I suppose it will partially power my ride direct from the sun - any excess electrons will get dumped to the pack. It will also have some saddle bags on the cart for excursions.

Actually, the MPPT seems quite nice - has a decent size inductor - allows 0.1V increments - shows the voltage of the battery and other stats. Thanks for the tips. I have a fuse for the MPPT and the inverter has one built-in. Not sure why I would need anything else other than something to...

Here's my complete system, everything works! I charged the battery with the solar for the first time yesterday. 8) I just have one 100 watt panel for now - going to get another. It weighs 5 pounds and 16x16 inches. The harness is wired for three panels (and the MPPT I got supports 300...

https://amzn.to/3N6lvee The Sur Ron charges to 67.2 VDC. If you set the MPPT to 66V it will stop before cell-balancing (from what I've read).

I'm not planning on using the Sur Ron charger. It's like this: Solar Cell -> MPPT Controller -> Sur Ron battery Not like this: Solar Cell -> Battery Bank -> Inverter -> Sur Ron Charger -> Sur Ron battery Thanks, the thought occurred to me that I can run stuff DC. Pretty much everything is...

I don't understand what the inverter has to do with charging? It is for taking electricity out of the pack. The MPPT controller is for direct charging. All it does it stop charging when it reaches the set voltage if I understand how it works correctly.

I've ordered what I need to go full solar for the Sur Ron. :bolt: Got solar cells, MPT controller and a continuous 2KW inverter so I can run my computer and Starlink from practically anywhere and during the just announced preemptive "extreme fire danger" blackouts. Of course, it also means I...

I already do go on long rides - and dropping more weight would only extend range. I"ve been to the top of the mountain which is 28 miles there and back and 6,000+ vertical feet. :bigthumb: I agree. If I lived where it was mostly flat, I would want more power. But, I just need to get to the...

I'm not saying everyone should go lighter. Just explaining why that is the direction I'm headed in. I have plenty of fun ripping now, and lighter with more traction would only make it more fun to me. Do what makes you happy. Adding any significant weight to the Sur Ron would ruin much of its'...

Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Yeah - I mean that is what I love about the Sur Ron is the power to weight ratio. But I got to say, charging downhill on my full-carbon Yeti is much more fun than on a Sur Ron. It's like an extension to my body versus feeling like riding a vehicle. Not gonna get that light anytime soon, but that...

Looks pretty dope. I'm actually leaning the other way; I'm fine with the stock power but want to dramatically reduce the weight. It's not hard to imagine a 26" fat-bike tubeless tire and rim could easily be be 5-7 pounds lighter than a 18" 4" mx tire/rim. Add that to the savings in the front...

Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Well I run tubeless. Where I live I just have never had to ride home on a flat since going tubeless on all my rides. My Sur Ron MX tires have been tubeless for years, and so has my fat bike and Yeti. Kind of a moot point when fat is at its’ greatest advantage as there is not much to give you a...
