Are EVs the Future? What Do You Think?

If EVs are practical and viable financially now, it should not be neccessary to “force” the market to adopt them. ,
..and what about those trades and businesses that rely on 2-3+ ton pick ups and trucks for towing etc,..as well as the RV market
Hmm, i think France tried something similar a few years ago increasing gas and diesel tax, ,….it effectively forced the government out of power !..

..pity that doesnt seem to have worked for helecopters also !
No one is "forcing" EVs on anyone. Removing artificial support (subsidies) for ICE cars, oil companies, and SUV purchases is not "forcing", it's leveling the playing field.

If you actually need a three ton pickup for your business, charge enough for your time to cover the a real costs to the rest of us. 90% of the ones I see around here are not towing or carrying anything, and have one person in them.

The trains are already electric.
The trains are Diesel powered with electric traction drive.
Very different to a full electric locomotive

they could build a few thousand gas plants and fire them up when the train going to come past.
simpler to have connection via a high voltage transmission network fed from a reliable grid with a few high capacity generation plants

Obviously you don’t understand why those big vehicles have such high demand!
Obviously the orange man doesn't understand why the demand is so little in Europe
Mimimimi the European don't buy our beautiful American cars 😭
It's almost impossible to find a parking space in the city for such a big ship and petrol costs around US$7.5 per gallon

Here in the US ICE was punishingly expensive to run, until we started importing from other countries. they were small high horse power with good gas mileage. Here were forced to buy large V8 engines with low horsepower and high gas milage. Yes, remember them days. Every said what are you running a rice burner.

IT's the same story except we are all forced to drive them rice burners and now hove high torque EV's. What are you driving that AMP burner. Lol same story.

He cares a lot! A balanced foreign trade balance is his credo. He is annoyed that Americans buy so many foreign goods, but the world spurns American goods.

The largest car exporter in the USA is BMW

Apparently you don’t !
No, Hillhater. Sorry enjoy getting you worked up. Was just pointing out the new thing is always bad, until the next new thing comes out. I am being forced not to drive my EV over taxes and insurance cost doubling. Could pay it, just decided that delivers are cheaper than driving. Is that crazy or what. Walmart has a huge EV delivery Van so i'm good with that. Walmart is growing on me.

Making certain class’s of ICE vehicle “ punishingly expensive to run” , is biasing the market to encourage buyers into EVs.
Obviously you don’t understand why those big vehicles have such high demand!
No. Making two and three ton vehicles, ICE or not, punishingly expensive to run just encourages smaller vehicles, which has a cascade effect on energy usage.

Those big vehicles are popular with road bullies, and those compensating for OEM physical shortcomings.
Also those who too feel threatened by the number of them on the road to choose a small vehicle.

SUVs and pickups are a loophole category. If they had to meet all car safety, mileage and emission standards, they'd be even more expensive.

As they should be.

Editor's note: I deleted some overpoliticized comments. Let's not got there again.

And i just deleted another one..

For starters, that doesn't belong on this thread and is a total flamebait distraction

Read the politics rule here:
Rules of the off topic section.

You have 3 options:
- follow the rules of the site and stop political muckraking
- make me go through the effort of banning you
- leave because you disagree

I'm extremely tired of telling you both to stop and deleting your posts to keep the peace. You are not exempt from these rules, and it's pissing the site administrator off a lot.
