Well, the jury is out. Closing statements are done.
They are erecting walls, baracades and calling in the Minnesota National Guard.
I did not realize that the family got $27M mid March 2021.

The settlement, unanimously approved by the Minneapolis City Council, is the largest pretrial settlement ever for a civil rights claim, according to attorney Benjamin Crump, the Floyd family’s attorney. It also surpassed a $20 million settlement the city of Minneapolis approved two years ago for the family of a white woman killed by police.

With the OJ trial the jury had the verdict maybe on Monday but they didn't convene in the court until Saturday. This being 3 years after the Rodney King riots. But here's much of any black person I knew laughing at the idea of rioting over OJ Simpson. But I just imagine they let the organizers whip them up and whip them up and they keep putting off the announcement and the angry mob becomes too exhausted by all the planning for the spontaneous riot.

Of course you didn't have Maxine Waters out screaming for rioting over OJ the way she did over Rodney King. We know how she came down this time. We'll see.

Yup... when you murder someone on camera with lots of witnesses around, being found guilty is bound to happen.

Hard to call it murder when the coroner can't give a specific cause of death, and without any video the coroner admitted the cause of death would have been ruled "inconclusive". It could have been a heart attack, since he had a 90% blockage in his heart. He was complaining that he couldn't breathe before he was restrained on the ground. It could have and overdose, since he was taking speedballs, which was consistent with his behavior, and it sounded like he said "I shouldn't have taken it." He was in the squad car and asked to be taken out and put on the ground. With an OD of fentanyl you simply stop breathing, and the autopsy didn't show bruising to demonstrate Chauvin put too much pressure on his neck, and some of the other video angles showed that Chauvin changed the restraint position periodically and knealt on the shoulder and neck, a commonly used ground restraint needed for such a big size difference. More evidence indicating OD was the half eaten speedball found in the back of the squad card with Floyd's DNA, which he took after he was already high, since he was behaving so even before the cops arrived.

Of course the original video we all saw last year looked horrible to us all, but it doesn't tell the whole story. It was a priority 1 police call and Floyd was behaving erratically and resisting arrest when Chauvin arrived. He would have been justified to subdue Floyd with a taser, but he opted for less use of force and restrained him instead.

There was certainly "reasonable doubt" in this case, so it will likely get reversed on appeal. With the violence and threats of violence, the guilty across the board jury decision is nothing more than mob rule, which has no place in the judicial system.

Well, Negative Nancy thanked George Floyd for dying, the judge says the conviction isn't out of the woods because of Maxine Waters and the possibility of a mistrial.

Its actually really easy to call it murder now, since that's what a jury that actually saw all the evidence decided he was guilty of.

And all that stuff you listed John is exactly what his defense attorneys claimed ,,,,and nobody believed them either, because of all the prosecution witnesses, including his police bosses, the medical examiner, paramedics that were prevented from helping, and many other that testified to the obvious... drugs didn't kill him, and heart disease didn't kill him, and neither did car exhaust. It was just plain lack of air from the neck kneeling, which his own superiors testified you're not supposed to do.

But way to repeat the party line... that's some fine parroting.

Yeah right, there was no reasonable doubt and that verdict wasn't reached due to intimidation by the mob and Maxine Waters. In the long run you and the mob you support will get exactly what is deserved.

And it's also good that most real Americans like me and the people I know don't support intimidation by a violent mob... Whatever color they are.

Most participants here enjoy spouting the kind of divisive rhetoric that leads up to the creation of those mobs on a large scale. Because attacking is more important than listening and cooperating to address the needs of both parties.

Voltron, don't act like you hold the higher moral ground when you are part of ensuring constant political conflict remains a feature of this forum.

You guys can't even stay on the topic of a thread. Taking little shots at each other is more important. I'm tired of seeing it despite repeatedly telling everyone to stop.
