Hello! I just finished installing my brand new Baserunner + All-Axle rear grin direct drive. Excited, I test ran the rig 200 meters and everything seemed ok. I headed back home, turned it off and on, and since then it makes this horrible sound. What's more, I can reproduce it by spinning it by hand.

Does anyone have an idea?

It sounds like Grin do not test each motor on a stand before shipping. I suppose that's not standard practice?
My understanding is that there is a QC process, including some kind of actual motor spin up (there's NO WAY they ship these out just hoping it spins under power) but like all things, it's hard to find every edge case.

It does seem like there are some further tests that could be run "on the stand" to ensure they hold up, but that would take extra time. Like, for example, hooking them up to another motor to produce a resistive load like an actual ride-load experience. Or simulating various throttle "blipping" procedures like what has been setting mine off. The tradeoff, of course, is that doing those things adds a bunch of QC time for what might only be a 1 in 1000 issue. So I'm sympathetic to the issue and I trust that Grin is weighing these options.

Yeah my motor came with some sort of QC sheet that was clearly generated from actually running the motor and taking some readings, I'll try to get a copy of it uploaded later

Luckily my all axle v3 has been problem free (except when I smashed the cable because the torque arm came lose - my fault). My issue has been with the super harness and baserunner. New Superharness with new firmware on the way from Grin and they specified some new parameters to set in the baserunner software.

Oh! Will the hardware/firmware address all your preview issues? Any timeline for new kit?
