Hello everyone
Hoping someone can help.
Does anyone have an idea why when I connect my throttle it immediately comes up with error 4? I updated firmware so now I get error 5 instead which is still throttle.
Bike works perfectly without throttle plugged in.
Have bought another throttle to no avail.
As soon as I plug the throttle in with assist level 1, the bike jerks as if it is trying to go, even if throttle is not engaged, then error 5 appears
Please and thank you

Hi bmarques,
And welcome to the forum! :)

I’d first recommend verifying the replacement throttle’s wiring pin-out to match the controller’s harness.
Have a link to the new throttle?

Thanks for the link. That throttle certainly looks like it’s made for your controller.

Next I would encourage you to check the harness that goes from the motor housing up to the throttle. And inspect the connections for bent pins. Also for any cables that have been damaged, compressed, or pulled. Pay special attention to the main cable after it comes out of the motor, to make sure it hasn’t gotten “pinched” between the housing and bike frame parts.

After that it would be a matter of taking some voltage readings. Do you have a multimeter, capability, and desire to do some testing?

EDIT: Does the display give you a different error code with the throttle removed?

hi tommy
i actually purchased a new cable harness which i'm not sure made a difference, however, when i was installing it i noticed the main cable coming from the motor itself was pinched/burnt. i undid the tension and reconnected everything. error 5 is not present when throttle plugged in, but now when i go to assist level one the motor automatically runs by itself, without throttle engaged or peddling. could this be because of the cable from the motor? when throttle nott plugged in the pas seems to work as normal on lvl 1, and doesn't start automatically

Sounds like your making some progress. :)

This could definitely be the source of your problem.
Did you cut out and repair the damaged section? If not tread carefully here. From your description I would speculate that the damaged main motor cable shorted and damaged the throttle. If you replaced the throttle before correcting the short, it probably took out the replacement also. So far, you still have what seems to be a working controller, but may change if proper repairs are not done.

Specific voltage testing of the throttle and wiring would be required to verify and determine the peticulars…

Take a look at this thread to see a bit about throttle testing…

But by all means, patch up and properly repair that harness cable now if you haven’t already done so.
Let me know your electrical testing experience if you decide to do do voltage checks.
