Facebook, Login with old email and phone number

Trying to help a neighbor to login to Facebook. After studying password list, finally found her email address and password. Tried to log in and got this message.

Go to your Facebook account on another device and open the notification we sent to approve this login.

Deleted browser history and tried again. I WAS IN :) Poked around in her account. Log out and in again to test. Walked to her house and tried to log in with her computer. Same message as above. Walk home. Opened notifications on my computer. Click - Ya OK use a new devise. After a playing with neighbors Facebook account for a few hours. I am no longer able to login. Get same message as above.

Called Facebook customer support. 800-735-1924 I was surprised that a guy answered. Wife yelled something about cooking chicken. Asked Facebook guy if I could call him back. He said "sure". Now I just get a message saying to leave a message. :( Left a message. I am idiot for hanging up.

Report that something isn't working on Facebook

Log into Facebook on a computer.

Password (deleted for privacy)

Now I get a message saying:

Tried a phone. Tried Xxxxxx's computer. Get same message.

Please do what needs to be done so Xxxxxx can log into Facebook.

Neighbors Gmail address is old and no longer works. Tried to recreate. "That username is taken. Try another."
Phone number on Facebook account belongs to a different neighbor who died. Tried to change it. Get this message:

Today 3/7/26, 9:00 am. Able to sign in to neighbors Facebook account. Wondering if there is some time settings or some human at Facebook read my report and loosened security stuff on neighbors Facebook account? My guess it that it has to do with time. Will try to stay logged in for a few days. Then will attempt to update phone number and email address.
 
That's pretty much my experience. It's very tricky to recover a password. It's impossible if someone else has hacked it. FB doesn't care. If you're logged in, there's no way to see your password. You have to know it before you can change it.

I got neighbors password. Now it looks like neighbor is trying to hack into her own account. CHILL PEOPLE. Think ya can live a few days without using Facebook?

Neighbors Facebook is still running on my computer. Going to try firing up Facebook on a phone.

Video Selfie? Wondering how long video is? Thinking will have neighbor hold her driver license by her head. Facebook profile picture is not her face. It looks like a large head doll someone found on the internet. Her picture is in her photo collection.

Wondering if Facebook can detect who's internet connection the computer, phone or tablet is connected to? Thinking might have better luck if neighbor does the video selfie thing here in my house because her Facebook account has been running for a few days in my house.

Why are all us stupid neighbors all paying for our own internet connections? With a few hundred feet of ethernet cable, wireless stuff, and some gadgets we could all share one connection.

Fake birthday, Real phone. Real (burner) email. In the past thee years, I've received almost $500 in face book class action settlements over privacy. My wife has received around $400. For some reason, I filed for both of us, but her last two settlements never arrived. I find FB OK for regular people with common sense. You don't post about being out of town when you're not home, etc.

Jeez, I even got one for $33 because Tubi TV sold my data. I did not apply for the Siri privacy settlement, because I honestly had no incidents. But Alexa ....we were having a Zoom call with other boomers last week. Started talking about worst songs of the 60's. Someone said "Alexa, play Sugar Sugar", The Alexa in my kitchen heard it and spooled it up.

Neighbors Facebook has been running on my computer no problem.

Different neighbor about 12 years old. Set up new account. Girl I am trying to help is wondering what happened to all her friends? Lets list all duplicate FB accounts.

Xxxxxx Xxxxxx - Set up by 12 year old neighbor. 3 friends.
