How to remove this cable off my old derailleur?

Hello,
I’m replacing my old damaged derailleur and need to know how I can unhook it from this cable.

9mm spanner. The nut dead centre in the photo.

The little crimp on the end that keeps the cable from fraying also has to be removed to get the cable thru the fittings. It's just soft metal. crimped on. Just squeeze it opposite to the crimp and it should come off. Then you can re-use it. I try to use a new shifter cable when I replace the derailleurs. They come with extra crimps,

I cut the crimped cable end with a Park Tool Cable Cutter (or equivalent) since the cable end may be frayed. Otherwise it's as easy as described above.
