The motor cover is very similar to the X5 serie of C-lyte...

Is this for your next project Doc – a partner for all those cells you've got lying in wait?

Looks mean, but also looks as if it weighs 20kg plus. It also looks impractically wide.

Interesting...bet it's an X5 with thicker axles and a different housing since it would be cheaper just to alter the ebike X5 than mass produce entirely new motors, and those wattage numbers are well within X5 spec, and as you noted, the covers are identical.

I like it! But doesn't it look more like a motor-cycle wheel? Either way it reminds me of the PML Hi-Pa hub Motor.

Looks perfect for a chopper

I'm sure that one is made for a full sized scooter.

It could also be vaporware.....

It would be great for a Micro Car.

Something like this would be cool

Looking at the picture again, it appears to be maybe twice as thick as an X5. Is it possible they gutted a couple of X5's and stacked the stators and magnets together in a single unit?

that looks really wide, i'm not sure though where or how it would be mounted on an EV - as the rear wheel in a tricycle maybe?

certainly not for a 4 wheeled car... HOWEVER

that would be an excellent design - to have a hub motor that replaces the stock hub of cars - ie where the drum brake sits in the rear of some cars. allowing whatever wheels to be placed over the electric setup!

once we see motors designed like that for the common cars of the country, i suspect that we'll see a glut of EVs on the roads - as people start their own conversions.

if there was a way to remove the need to have custom drive shaft parts, and gearbox adaptors, it would be great!

There have already been some EV cars that had electric motors in the hubs.

Wow, that is very cool, whatever it is based on.

For my next project I want to do something between a bike and a motorcycle, with full suspension, big fat tires, two X5s and a great big pile of a123s. :D

same, but i want mine to have 3 wheels  and 3 motors;)

i'd make it 4, but there are too many design rules to satisfy!
