Appealing to all KT settings gurus really.

I'd like my throttle to start up until 4mph, 6kph and only work when pedals are in rotation.

I think local law says throttles are fine as long as they only operational while pedals are moving. I'm currently using throttle from standstill, which risks fines and confiscation. Seen too many checkpoints on YouTube lately.. 🤬

Is this an easy tweak? Last time I dove into changing things (P's C's etc) the motor made funny noises so I'm appreciative of any advice in the right direction.

I believe P4 in combination with C4 is what you need to tweak. P4 set to 1 to only allow throttle after you pedal. And then set C4, you can check the manuals to see which exact option aligns well with your regulations, but also when C4=2 you can specify your own top throttle limit (so if throttle never should exceed 6kph you can set that). These are settings for KT-LCD8, double check for your display model.

Thanks for helping, exactly the settings I needed. Turns out the 6km/h thing is only with wheel in the air so almost useless on the ground, but thankfully the throttle only works when the pedals are in use, which means the throttle kicks in faster than the pedal assist, which takes about 2-3 full turns to activate.

No more fear of fines and confiscation for me.

If anyone knows if my long PAS delay (without throttle) is fixable in the settings, please tell me which one! lol

Try checking and adjusting the C1 parameter. It controls both the PAS signal wave form and sensitivity. For example for me normally for a left side sensor I used C1=5, that would be for a reverse wave form highest sensitivity. If your is set to 0 to 2, 0 would be the highest sensitivity as per the manual.

If that doesn't help enough, perhaps you are using a low magnet count PAS, upgrade to a KT PAS with 12 pulses. I only ever used 12 signal ones with my KTs, they were okay, I think it was less than one full crank rotation before the assist kicked in...
