Ok I think there are maybe three us now so let's start our own thread. QS 1000w middrive builds. I just bought mine, waiting for it to arrive.Capture2.JPG

It's pretty wide, I don't think it will fit between my crankarms so I plan on placing the motor away from the pedals a bit.

Also, last time a checked with them they will only supply the motor with the pulley wheel, not a 219 sprocket so I need to make an adaptor.

I admire your work. I'm going to copy it unless you have an extra one laying around you will send me...

Cool

Things are moving fast with this motor. I see it attached to a swingarm soon. I’ll keep an eye on the adapter progress in case I want to ditch the belt for my 1st stage of reduction. Need a bigger rear chainring cyclone has a 90 tooth doesn’t give enough reduction for a single stage. So easy to ditch one idea for another.

7~8:1 should be a fine reduction ratio for this motor on 26" wheels and a 40mph top speed. That is possible with a single stage of 219.

yeah but you ordered the 3000w. The 1000w isn't even offered on your link. It doesn't seem they are offering the same support with the 1000w. I messaged them again to see if they would do 428....

Whoa, I didn't know they made a sprocket that was made after the stock axle...nice!
I'm gonna have to get this in case mine breaks.

It depends, if the axle has the same measurements as the 3000 version you can just buy the sprocket and have a mechanic pull off the existing pulley.

Having a straight shaft actually makes it easier then.

All you would need is a machinist.

Why not use a custom lazer cut one? I mean there is plenty of space, a 400mm or 16 inch dia #219 one with ~160t to 12t would be a 13:1 reduction. I dont know how fast this thing wants to spin, but i think that is in the range of the OEM swing arm with belt reduction, that was i think 5 to one but with a quite small wheel

At least this sounds much simpler + lightweight to me than an additional reduction stage if it is not really necessary

The motor shaft is 17mm in diameter with a 5mm key down the side. The shaft is about 18mm in length.

Unconfirmed. Please test print with a 3d printer before sending your file out for cutting. Don’t know if nominal or actual etc. I’m not responsible basically. Please confirm on the motor you receive.

They quoted me as 3000rpm@72v and 3500rpm with FW. That seems like a very small FW gain for an IPM (which they confirmed this is).
But that calculates out to needing perhaps 7-8:1 for a 40mph ebike on 26" wheels.

No luck with the sprocket from QS. My motor is coming with the pulley and maybe a sprocket later that will probably be tapered and not fit. A CAD model for the 219 sprocket would be awesome!

The struggle is real, fellas

I guess with a little filing this would work. I think 15mm is standard for 219, I wonder why QS uses 17mm

If you can take a picture of the one you want in the correct tooth count, but incorrect center mount I may be able to help with a cad file. Please make sure there is a tape measure or ruler in the picture, I prefer metric. A lot to ask but this is how I work. I’ll double check the diameter size when I get home.

From another es post.
http://www.gizmology.net/sprockets.htm

Basically instructions for designing your own sprocket.

What’s desired? Chain type and tooth count for the sprocket?

#219 with 12 teeth would be great. Here's my progress so far. My motor should be here next week. My wooden mockup in its place for now.so far 3 (600 x 450).jpg

My day job has me faced with an additional 2 hours added to my commute daily. I’m sure there’s a teary eye somewhere for me, ha ha. So... back burner for the 219 chain sprocket cad work. If someone can do the outline of the sprocket in cad I could get the ball rolling faster. Dxf file. I have to focus on my own project. Wheels are in and I need to make this type of mount. Don’t want to mess with my disc brake mount position etc so attaching directly to the hub seems more doable. This is an advanced method from the 2 stroke guys that’s an upgrade to the rag joint mount. I can buy a mount and adaptor totaling $70 bit it would still need work as it’s not for 32 spoke wheels which is what I have. Going to look up a referral of a water jet cutter nearby. Ok tapping holes on a curved surface looks difficult. Might have to modify something like the last picture.
