I just received my new Chargery BMS24 unit. Need some ideas on how to set up the charge and discharge port.

here is a diagram of the set up..

In order to set up the charge and discharge port it would require a relay. Does anyone have any ideas on what I could use for this?..The shunt that was given with the unit is a very heavy duty unit and I will be pulling a max of 60 amps using 24 Li-Ion cells (100 volts).

If anyone has had any experience with this I would appreciate any comments..this looks like an exciting product and cant wait to test it out

Thanks

Hey Doctor Bass

Here is the website....http://www.chargery.com/

The price was $216 US including shipping and all the accessories...I am not sure of how to set up a relay so that a charger can work and set up another relay for discharging although the Shunt is good for 300 amps!!!

Cant wait to see how this works!

Wow...looks like that will do it although the relay for charging looks abit overkill..

Thank you!

What is this thing? How the heck can it charge at 600a is that per cell or 24cells divided by 600? It seems fairly complex and bulky so it almost seems like a component meant to be permanently installed next to a battery and take the place of a bms?

Hi John,

Thanks for sharing. I'm very interested. Keep us posted, please. Did you purchase directly from Chargery? Also noticed it needs power supply of 15 to 40? Volts (1 Amp max) IIRC. I assume PS needs to be isolated. Any idea if it can use automotive aux 12-14V? I'd like to use on EVcar. PITA to need seperate PS just for BMS.

Ill be hooking this up to my 24s li-Ion battery in about 2 weeks..because I have been manually balancing the cells using the battery medics I have been getting about 35-40 kms per charge. I can use as much as 33 wh/km and as low as 22 wh/km. Pulling 55 amps and about 4200 watts. I believe that my range should increase as a result of this device and cant wait to try.
I will be updating the results as soon as I can, although I am not sure where I am gonna put it...

I have decided that I am not going to have a relay connected to the discharge port but only the charging port as the unit has 2 different alarms with regards to LVC and drawing 60 amps through a relay generates to much heat especially where I am going to put the relay.

Charger is a 24s lipo (100 volts) at 5 amps

Vendor said that the charge controller port will put out either pack voltage or if an external power supply is used, what ever that voltage is..example 16 volts..

Ok I am assuming that this relay ( for charging port only) would work?..

Input is 3-32 volts
Output is 120 volts

Any thoughts?

Thanks

You must put relay output. The BMS24 contol output and charger relay, when have problem with battery BMS24 cut voltage.I apologize for my bad English

The input to drive the coil in the relay is 3-32 volts and the output is 120 volts..(I will be using an external power supply because if not, what would be coming out to drive the relay coil is battery voltage and thats too high)..(im assuming that that is the MAXIMUM as my charger only puts out 100 volts and 6 amps

Hi guys, my husband and I recently bought the chargery bms 24t to charge our 72v 20s2p lipo battery.

I have found that it is not balancing well. Does anyone know if there is any more info on the balancing logic or anything that can be modified to help with focussed balance charging?

Thanks

Amy

The only way I know to improve balancing is to open the cover and add thermal paste or a thermal pad so that the balance resistors can transfer heat away to the case. Balancing current is limited by heat.

NOTE:
There are a few models with similar names mentioned in this thread.
BMS-24 does not have balance functions only monitoring and relay control.
BMS-24T or BMS-24PRO are a two piece unit that also has balancing besides the monitoring and relay control.
