Wanted to share this story with the forum:

http://green.autoblog.com/2011/12/16/juicer-48-motorized-bicycle-gets-its-gumption-from-v-twin-batter/

The title of this thread comes from the "cool music" in the video showing the Juicer 48 in action.

The main link is http://www.hollywoodelectrics.com/, the producer of the bike.

It has all the essential elements of a high-speed machine: big tires, disc brakes, front fork with suspension functions. News article says a "400 Amp" controller is inside the "tank" facsimile. The artistic sense of configuring the Headways in the "V-twin" configuration is nice, not sure how functional it is. (Space-efficient?) The bottom "loop" where the bottom bracket would be looks nice to mount a chain-drive motor securely in place. Surely there'll be a chain guard in this bike's future - looks like you could do a number on a pants cuff with that chain drive. My only complaint might be that the fit of the bike part to his leg length is poor enough that if you ever ran out of juice, you could hurt yourself pedaling this 110lb machine home. I can't tell what hub motor they are using, but it looks nice - Crystalyte maybe?

The frames look familiar from the forums - like something aussiejester might make. I can't tell if there's any connection between them and us. A quick search, I didn't turn up any matches for "Dave Twomey" on the forums. They don't appear to link to us on their "links" page: http://www.hollywoodelectrics.com/links.html

Their FAQ is an interesting manifesto that hits and summarizes the chief populist arguments surrounding our machines. I'm not a fan of ICE, but I'm not sure ICE's are 18-20% efficient - I've read "32-38%" in the technical literature, but then that number is "tank to tire" efficiency and would not include sourcing and refining energy cost.

They list Zero and Roehr electric motorcycles, and have an operating web cart for purchase - is this for real? For ebikes, they've got A2B, iZip, eZip and what looks like some in-house conversions.

Anyone know these guys?

There are already several other threads featuring this bike.

Hey all;
I did a search for "Juicer" and "Juicer 48" before I posted, got no hits whatsoever.
I guess it's possible the scope of my search was too limited - any search engine tips that might have resolved this problem?

Thanks;

Its not actually a full custom frame but rather an altered production frame, these 'drop loop' mods
are actually quite common on the motored ICE bicycle sites, gives the boys more room for their China gurl motors etc...
They are reminiscent of the early board track racers from Harley Davidson and Indian motorcyles...
He's done a great job, has pittiful range though thanks to the headway cells and lack of them.

It looks a bit small for the rider, very moped looking.

Agreed, could of done with some added length seeing he was modding the frame... another foot would do it IMO...
Give him some 'length' from your new custom bobber frame Warren you got heaps to spare buddy hehe
