Hub Motor vibrates but does not turn; works with different controller

Thanks for the advice on Sine vs square I did do one more test - tried testing just the wire from my bike in another bike - worked fine. Tried installing my controller in another ebike using the wiring on that Ebike ... didn't work. So it has to be the controller and not the cable. Problem...

Hub Motor vibrates but does not turn; works with different controller

Thanks for the replies, I did try running another eBike motor from my bike - it did not work either - same vibrations. This same other eBike runs my motor no problem. Again, indicating it is the controller or the wires. However, my controller and wires can run my motor when it is out of the...

Hub Motor vibrates but does not turn; works with different controller

Some more photos of controller - I did test the transistors for shorting & they were ok. No obvious damage. I did find that the green power wire to the motor was missing insulation, so I thought that might have been the issue … taped with electrical tape, but that did not change anything!

Hub Motor vibrates but does not turn; works with different controller

Thanks for the reply, [edited] Is it possible that the different controller (the one on the other ebike that I tried) could run a motor with damaged sensors? - some controllers can run motors even if the sensors are damaged? Could I have damaged Hall Sensors even though the other controller...

    Tonsheng motor stopped providing assist

I had something like this happen - turned out that the connector pins were not connecting properly to the bike. I cleaned the pins on the bike & the battery and that did the trick for me. Does the connector look "sooty"? - That was a clue that things were not connecting well. I'm not an...

Hub Motor vibrates but does not turn; works with different controller

Thanks for the suggestion I’m not sure what type of controller it is. I bought the ebike as a complete unit & it worked for 4 years … now it is becoming more of a self-build as I try to fix it! There are thin blue, yellow and green wires that go to the motor as well as the thicker power wires...

Hub Motor vibrates but does not turn; works with different controller

Hi, I've got a 2017/18 Voltbike Yukon 750 - Fat ebike with 500W motor (750 W peak). A few weeks ago - as I was sitting on the bike I heard a small noise and after that the hub motor in the rear wheel stopped providing torque when I pedalled. Some symptoms: Battery fully charged; display...

    Voltbike Yukon

Hey Winnipeg Voltbikers, I'm up in Yellowkinfe, NWT thinking about buying a Voltbike for year-round, including winter use. Winnipeg winters are almost as cold as ours - have you had the Yukon out in weather around minus 30 deg C? I'm curious about how the geared motor holds up?

Budget Fat eCruiser for COLD winter commuting?

How about this Voltbike Yukon 750? - could change the handle-bar to be more cruiser style - Voltbike claims they have no issues with cold weather and the Bafang FUN8 plastic gears - comes with a certificate saying motor is rated at 500W - so street legal - slightly over my budget, but "time...

Budget Fat eCruiser for COLD winter commuting?

Thanks for the suggestion - I have read that putting the batteries on the rack makes the bike a bit top-heavy & rear loaded ... any truth to that in your experience? A

Budget Fat eCruiser for COLD winter commuting?

Is the Mongoose Dolomite available in Canada? - walmart.ca doesn't list it. Amazon.ca has one for $600. But it looks similar to the Schwinn Biggity from Canadian Tire - has anyone done an e-bike/cruiser style conversion with on of these...

Budget Fat eCruiser for COLD winter commuting?

I have not tried a torque sensor ebike in the snow, but did rent an ebike with a pedal speed sensor (in Quebec City) ... that bike tended to be unstable on ice when the motor kicked in - especially when starting. What might I not like about the pedal assist in snow? Do you mean torque based or...
