14000 miles on my BBSHD- how many more?

Let's hear the odometer readings on your BBSHD. I heard they quit counting!

    can a 194mm steerer tube replace a 170mm one?

Right on, Chalo! OK, one more tid bit of info to make my ebike the coolest thing on Planet Earth. Sounds like you're the man, so here's another question from the new kid on the block- My old blown threaded suspension shock steerer tube is 6" long, and I'm converting it to a threadless suspension...

    can a 194mm steerer tube replace a 170mm one?

What's up Doc? I thought there were limits on how many spacers you can use- I'll have to do more homework on that one......I have no idea what I'm doing with this conversion, so it's a "monkey-see-monkey-do" off You tube viewing.....I'm still trying to figure out why threaded steerer forks were...

    can a 194mm steerer tube replace a 170mm one?

After careful analysis of your diagnostic procedure, and a little more brainstorming, my sneaky suspicion became evident- there is not enough thread to secure the steerer tube to the frame stem with the top securing nut- so it's off to the threadless steerer tube universe, with fangled star...

    can a 194mm steerer tube replace a 170mm one?

I'm a dinosaur with a 170mm "threaded" suspension front fork. I know these are relics, but I have an opportunity to replace my worn out one with a new 194mm threaded one, NOS off Ebay. Will this 24mm extra length produce any problems as far as securing it, as it has 40mm of top thread. I have a...

    A Good Threaded 1 1/8" suspension fork????

Hey, you guys are great! Because of the informative vibes, I walked into my basement and checked out my Currie Eride, my 1st ebike, the one that couldn't get me up that hill. And guess what, it has a threadless steerer tube, complete. I checked out a few Youtube videos on how to convert, and I...

    A Good Threaded 1 1/8" suspension fork????

OK, you've just about convinced me to do a threaded to threadless conversion. I'm still a little confused on what happens at the upper end of the threadless fork. I mean, what specifically do I need to get to clamp the top of the fork to the frame, and how do the upper bearings stay put? I...

    A Good Threaded 1 1/8" suspension fork????

Oh, the existing fork that it came with is a ?- the bike is an old electric 24v Synergy electric bike- came out in the early 2000's......I would say it's a "generic" suspension fork.

    A Good Threaded 1 1/8" suspension fork????

I'm running 26" wheels, and am aware of their old school signature- but someone must make a high quality threaded suspension fork out there for us antiques. Yeah, I know the complexity of the varieties of forks out there- threaded, unthreaded, tapered etc etc etc, but I'm trying to keep it...

    A Good Threaded 1 1/8" suspension fork????

I've got 9000 miles on a BBSHD on a generic mountain bike (called a Synergy). I've gone through 3 front suspension forks and need to find a high quality one that will do the trick. I do plenty of rough dirt roads. Any suggestions?

    BBSHD Hits 5000 miles

It's all pretty much too good to be true- August of 2017 installed, and proceeded to do 500+ trips of around 11-13 miles a trip (last 2 miles of each trip very steep) for the next 30 months. All I did was lube the secondary gear once a year- that's it! How many miles does yours have?

    Worn Out Lekkie Bling Ring??

Thanks for all the responses- I didn't "measure" the chain with a "tool", but it was significantly longer than the new chain, sitting side by side, and this particular "assumed worn chain" has been on the ebike for over a year with about 1500 miles on it, and I do alot of hills. Since the Bling...

    Worn Out Lekkie Bling Ring??

I've owned a BBSHD-driven generic mountain bike for three years. I just installed a new 7 speed cassette (but only use 5 cogs), and a new Shimano HG-71 7 speed chain. However, I didn't change out the 42 tooth Lekkie Bling Ring. The test run had a "chainny noise" coming from the chain/chainring...

Lithium Battery OK in a Backpack??

Yeah, I hear your anti-battery-in-a-backpack sentiment loud and clear- I already got my creative juices flowing and put it the rear of the seat area, semi-vertically, a perfect fit. I cut off the rack from a seat post pannier, attached a piece of 1/4" aluminum plate as a base, attached it to the...

Lithium Battery OK in a Backpack??

I'm buying a spare 52v 14.25AH spare lithium- can I put it in a zipped up packpack while it's hooked up and running a BBSHD? Don't they need to be "ventilated"? or am I making too big a deal about it.
