Hope you are doing better. Living in Co Cal. we don't have ice, but we do get rain and mixed with oil on the road it can be very bad. I really enjoy E-biking and I've had it happen to me were I lost traction. I ended up skidding up a drive way and took a tumble. Because I wear an 40 year old...
Being seen during the day and at night has always been a problem, my bike runs on 12s lipos (52v fully charged) and what I did was to get a transformer they use on golf carts 48v to 12v on ebay. Also on EBay have many 12v headlight and tail light setups you can buy. With a micro switch I have...

What is not widely known is that the California PAS 28 MPH E-bikes are not allowed on wood and river bike paths. Like Dogman Dan I don't more than a glance by the police and enjoy the ride by keeping my speed to about 20 MPH. I've have more than a few of the road racing bikes zip right by me...
On my daily commute I have several hill climbs to make so I've learned to pedal assist my motor up the hills and at the end of the climbs I do get a work out about the same as me moderate speed walking 30 minutes. The difference is when I'm commuting I'm saving gas and wear and tear on my car...
If you are planning to travel over 30 MPH, you might consider using a full suspension bike with larger street tires. Hitting ruts and uneven road surfaces can be hard on the rider as well as bike.
One item I would add is a bright headlight and tail light set up. As you will probably ride when it is getting dark and maybe a little a little light rain and drivers may nit be able to see you. Helmet and a high visibility vest should also be added.
Good advice from Dogman Dan about spending more on getting a decent battery. After you ride for while you will find how slow 15 MPH is. At 15 mph on the street you will be a target for almost every driver on the road. I recommend you budget some money on safety equipment like lights and a...
It sounds like a loose connection or bad wire. When the bike is working ok take a voltmeter and take power reading through wires leading up to and past connection and control and component points. It is a slow process, but to find intermittent problems can be a real pain. After you take the...
Flying very large RC models, I use 6 cell lipos in airplanes as well as my E-bike. For exclusive E-bike use Li-ion might be a better choice. Lipos have an advantage in that you can more easily carry just the amount of batteries you need, discharge rates are better, I can charge up my Lipos in...
I would think it was low tire pressure. If it was too high of pressure the entire bead would have given way and the tube would have burst. check the bread it make sure there are no cracks. Try inflating the tire to 20 lbs. and check that the bead is evenly distributed. Then inflate to normal...
I built a e-bike using a 1000w 48v kit from China several years ago. This is before a PAS (pedal assist systems) were put in so the older bikes was capable of about 30 MPH. The E-bay sellers now have to sell the 1000w systems using PAS, but they are still bare bones. Not to scare you off, but...
