It sounds like you still have a scenario where you have tx,rx reversed. Ie by replacing the VLCD5 plug you have wired it correctly to work with the rest of the wiring and it remains reversed for the other two screens?
Likely the 850c screen is a 2021 version (check the back) which this version of the firmware does not support. You need to use the mrbusa forked firmware.
Just had something pop in my motor. Approx 3000km on a heavy cargo bike
I thought a shaft had broken, it was a loud crack noise, but I pulled it apart and both the motor and main gear shafts are fine. Looks like the one way clutch in the blue gear has gone! Haven't read about this one before...
Haven’t done this myself, but can’t see any reason why not. Yes the discharge curve is a bit flatter but as long as you enter the right low voltage cutoff and max current. Obviously don’t use the cell count / battery voltage tables in the manual. Out of interest what cells and how many?

Thank you for performing these tests. It helps explain why quieter motors have multiple nylon step downs. Very quiet motors seem to have carbon belt drives.
It is also interesting as the code is refined some of the motor harmonics are reducing over time - anecdotally a lot of motor noise at...
The black wire in the loom going to the display is GND. They moved it at some point. Just splice into that.
For reference here is a video I made a while ago, near the end if you look carefully you can see the black wire in the display loom goes off somewhere else on the board...

They are recoverable. There was a post about this a few months ago. Someone had a patch for the newer 850c display but I don’t believe it was ever submitted. If you flash the 860 firmware on your 850 screen and you see the boot screen on believe it should work. Let me try to find the post

I have been obsessing over Q Factor for some time now. I bought some replacement cranks and measured against the bundled TSDZ2 cranks. Here are the results for my bike with bottom bracket width 70mm.
