    Looking for a race

An easy way to make classes would be by weight, like boxing. Since the key to ebike performance is basically a big battery, a big motor, a big controller, and big wires. These all weigh a considerable amount. If you have weight classes such as <50lbs, <75lbs, <100lbs etc you could have different...

    Looking for a race

Exactly. They used to let ebikes compete at Pikes Peak, but banned them. Let's bring that back. It's an easy start. It's already set up and organized, they just need to recognize there is also a demand to race ebikes.

That's great that this has been discussed in the past, but I'm more concerned about the future. I want to participate, not just read and talk about it...

    Looking for a race

Yes, my father immigrated to the U.S. as a young man so I have a Dutch last name. The Snelheid company name is in honor of the Dutch people's passion for racing, and their cycling heritage.

    Looking for a race

Yes, exactly! A class system would be necessary, just like every other form of racing. In addition to track racing, I also like the idea timed Hill Climbs, such as the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. Hills put a lot of stress on the components which is good for development, and timed racing, one at a...

I don't know what your definition of "commuter ebike" is, but they are based on a "Singlespeed" setup. 4kw+ means it's peak output is over 4000 watts.

The pic on this forum is a prototype and runs a much more powerful electrical system.

    Looking for a race

Depends on what kind of race. Drag racing cars are much different than Formula One cars even though they are both "cars". But who would win would depend on the course they race on.

    Looking for a race

Cars are just slow moving obstacles, pick your line and go around them. But seriously, is there any organized E-bike racing out there? If not, why not?

    Looking for a race

Our bikes can't do better that 135mph, but in Chicago I doubt there's enough room for you to hit 80mph, or maybe even 70mph...

    Looking for a race

Cool, lets race through downtown Chicago from point A to point B. We need more takers. Who wants to have fun even if they lose??

Anyone here use a MAC 500/100 watt motor on a Road Bike

I agree with Raged, the dropout is going to be your weak point. Also, the motor hub width is 135mm and most road bikes are 120mm. It is not advised to spread Aluminum frames as they can easily crack. Then depending on the type of dropout, and grade of Aluminum, the torque from your MAC could...

Your Creation's Before & After Pics

Here's my daily ride. I don't have a before pic as I built it from the frame up as an E-Bike. Here are it's main features: - Heavily modified Chromoly Single Speed Track frame - Alex DH-19 wheels with Schwalbe Energizer Plus tires (700c x 35mm) - Lyen 6Fet controller with Low/High switch...
