Some other very interesting stuff happening

Not sure if you have one yet, but a website would be great. It's hard to keep up with all of your stuff on the forum!

    The Grinhill Mk2 RC-motor drive

I'm following this one closely! I was inspired by your first creation, and will probably build something similar soon. Please keep us posted, we appreciate following your reports. Dave

Yet another HXT 80 100 B build thread

It's nice to see another Kona Smoke rider here. I'm anxious to see your progress! Here's mine: http://www.endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5328

Dave's stealth Kona Smoke (Heinzmann with Milwaukee)

It was a bit expensive, but it was a small price for me to pay for the peace of mind I got. 5 year warranty, safe-durable design, potential resale value and easy replacement. Plus, I never run out of power on my home improvement projects! :)

    "Electric Blue" - 36v Bafang w/Phylion Battery

Looks good! I mounted my batteries and controller in panniers to lower the center of gravity. Maybe you could do the same? http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5328 Dave

Choosing the right connector and wire size

Anderson rates their products for industrial purposes. Dean rates for the hobby market. The two are not created equal. Look at some of the hobby ESCs and their outlandish ratings compared to something like a Sevcon or Curtis ESC. I've pushed 100+ amps through the PP30s before with no ill...

Need electrical help with DC to DC converter please

Thanks for the help Rick. The problem is that I have it wired exactly as you indicated, and it doesn't work. The problem is that it seems that just shorting the ON/OFF pin to Vin(-) doesn't work. I have to sort of "tease" the wires together so they just barely contact for it to turn on...

Need electrical help with DC to DC converter please

Hello, I have a Tyco QW050b1 DC to DC converter that I'm trying to use for my headlight (datasheet here: http://www.part-datasheets.com/data/qw050b1.pdf ) I'm having trouble with the remote switching option, and I could use some help. The datasheet says the following: Remote On/Off...

CA showing negative Watts with headlight

Hi Justin, Thanks for the input. The -38W shows up only when there is a load on the converter. Otherwise it's 0W. I played with it a bit and found that the Wattage figure is actually quite variable, depending on any number of strange things (if I'm touching the converter, if it's on a...

CA showing negative Watts with headlight

Hi all, I just added a DC to DC converter on my bike to power my 12V headlight with my 56V batteries. I have it wired up and it works, but the CA shows -38W instead of 38W being used. Any idea what's up? I have it wired after the CA shunt, just like my motor controller (which shows the...

Can you show me where you added the CA speed control wiring? I have the same controller with a CA, but haven't done it yet. Thanks!

    Blue and Yellow ebike

It looks like a slightly modified EV Global bike to me. If it's the stock motor, it's a brushed, geared Heinzmann. I'm running mine at 56V and it tops out at 24mph and has torque like a diesel truck! The price is good.

    Need replacement spoke

I've tried 2 local bike shops with no luck. They have 210mm, and then like 250+. The spoke broke at the threads in the nipple, not at the hub. johnrobholmes, can you give me a quote for say 5 or 10 spokes shipped to 02180? Thanks, Dave

    Need replacement spoke

Hi all, I broke a spoke on my wheel, and I need a replacement. I think it's 215mm, but I'm not positive. It's a 26" wheel with a Heinzmann 36V hub motor from an EVG bike. Anybody know where I can get some? Thanks, Dave

    Regen and AGM max charge

It really depends on the specific brand of battery. I know Hawker AGM batteries will take all the current you can throw at them for charging, provided you keep the voltage constant. A quote from here http://www.batteryweb.com/pdf/Hawker_Cyclon_Manual.pdf I'm not sure how the regen feature...

Help me select a good combination, please:)

    - No, only parallel batteries of the same chemistry, voltage and state of charge. - Only if you define a "waste" as not using it to it's full potential. It's probably not the best use of the 5 series motor, especially considering you want to loose weight. - 4820 would mean less torque, slower...

    Milwaukee 28v x2s w/BMS & Warranty VS DeWalt 36v in Parallel

Hi and welcome! I was faced with a similar question, and I went with Milwaukee. I was attracted by the ability to series connect 2 batteries through their BMS, and their track record on the forum. I have a 2s3p setup and have been quite happy with is so far. I use the 3 bay charger which...

Dave's stealth Kona Smoke (Heinzmann with Milwaukee)

Hey froggie, I got the panniers from Nashbar, but I don't see them on their site anymore. I found them on Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/Nashbar-Daytrekker-Panniers/dp/B000R2N9HC/ref=pd_bbs_5?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1216647157&sr=8-5 I paid around $20 for them though. They're...

Dave's stealth Kona Smoke (Heinzmann with Milwaukee)

Hi Mitch, The whole EV Global bike was $225 on Craigslist. I could have turned around and sold it for more than that, but I really just wanted the motor. They pop up on eBay sometimes, but they are often quite a bit more expensive. I agree that the lower depth of discharge is better for the...

    Milwaukee v28 Charger Fault

Awesome, glad to hear it! I may do it too, if I have problems in the future. After my last ride, everything seemed normal. It would be sort of obvious to ask for the "bad" packs back after they gave you the new ones, right ;) I'd love to harvest some emoli cells for a booster pack!

LiFePO4 - better life with shallow discharge?

I would add that the Prius battery actually never fully charges though either. The key is keeping the NiMh batteries in the say 40% to 70% charged state. I don't know the answer to the original poster's question, but I don't think you'll really have a problem either way.

Dave's stealth Kona Smoke (Heinzmann with Milwaukee)

Ha! I've thought about it, thanks to your posts :) I also got the idea to screw the battery holders with tiny screws from you. Thanks! It would mean about 38mph, but I doubt it would survive that long. The gears all all metal and it's very well constructed. I would just be concerned...
