low voltage cut off when riding a long ride

You may need to monitor cell voltages to see if you're losing a cell. Have you noticed a reduction in range or pack capacity? If you hit the pack voltage LVC then yes you're risking overdischarging a cell if you don't monitor individual cells. If you hit the cell voltage LVC looking at...

Power DC brushed motor with an AC supply

Trying to find an inexpensive and simple way to power a DC motor and other 12v controls from a 120v AC power source. The project is refurbishing a robotic scarecrow for a display, it yaws using a brushed DC scooter motor. I am assuming the motor may spike 150 watts at 12 volts. My idea is to...

Both hall throttles, 2 volts at 0% throttle

Not sure how to word it in google to search for it. I just started having problems, my e-trike wouldn't run, assumed the controller faulting because high throttle on start up because the old razor hall thumb throttle was putting out 2 volts at 0% throttle, so I could disconnect the signal wire...

Surface mount vs Through-hole IC shock resistance

Just wondering about the shock and fatigue of hard mounted electrical boards experienced on a high speed bike, the bone rattling harmonics. For heavier electrical components (opposed to 0603/0805 passives), would using through-hole have an advantage regarding durability. Can the copper pull off...

    Kuberg Free Rider

It definitely looks unique (ugly IMO). Seems like there is a big waste of space where you could lower CG and/or add more battery cap. (Unedited screen shot from their website)

Got ran over by a car today...

Great to hear you didn't get broke. Most drivers where I live (99%) do not ride bicycles or walk around; so naturally, they have no concept of what a pedestrian is, what they do, and most importantly when to look for them. People always pull over cross walks while you're trying to use them and...

Please post all the ways a battery has been killed

It sounds like you have a good idea of these issues. Corrosion like oxidation, electrochemical processes (H2O+minerals = electrolyte) and damaging your pack's structural integrity (ie. wet duct tape) would be more of the enemy when it comes to getting your pack wet. The packs should be well...

That's what I took away. He even said put your lithiums in the freezer at night (one of the last questions he answered).

Weapon X to the moon middrive?

HeHe, we all have our guilty pleasures. Last summer I built a HF Predator engine for a friend's minibike, upgraded bigger cam and valve springs, baby harley: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPg66HQiV8w

Weapon X to the moon middrive?

Gas power? That's Blasphemy! I got 1150kwh of nano-techs to get it started. It's on the bench right now getting aligned, but here is a side image with swingarm/motor installed: http://i.imgur.com/QWkwEeG.jpg

Weapon X to the moon middrive?

You're correct, it's a motorcycle for now. Since I went with a real motorcycle swing arm and 520 chain, I decided to hold on pedals for now and see how the initial design holds up. I left the bottom bracket open and the chain passes through the center line.

Weapon X to the moon middrive?

The front tire will clear the motor, it is close however. The first thing I check was that doing physical mockups (like in the first images), then verified in the cad model. I just got the metal in the mail, should be cut out soon.

Weapon X to the moon middrive?

It is estimated using a 24" digital caliper and one of those magnetic dial angle gauges (along with assumptions of whole numbers that the engineers used). I will send you the frame model just to compare would be cool anyway.

    Inflatable helmet / Airbag helmet

I remember one day in Middle School, I saw the aftermath of an accident near my house from the schoolbus, a motorcycle smashed up against a small station wagon. Years later working as a GS mechanic, it turns out it was the father of one of the other mechanics. His dad turned out onto the street...

Arduino throttle code: amp limiting and cruise control

I just finished modifying my buddy's Kidtrax Firetruck ("Power Wheels"). This also uses an Arduino so that I could more simply calibrate the servo steering system and custom modified variable throttle (using GM TPS sensor). Mockup of electric steering: http://youtu.be/4vg9yUhAbuQ Here is V4...

Versus Weapon X - disassembly pictures

I figured I would be the first person in all of the internet to show the Weapon X disassembly to the frame. PHOTO ALBUM: http://imgur.com/a/gUxGc#0 I am starting to look at going with a custom extended rear swing arm mated with a motorcycle wheel. I am thinking about a name for the project...
