Doc Watson meter, how to connect to 48v SLA setup...

RIght right, I understand.......however, if you have ever seen my setup, there would be precious little room to fit even that size of a shunt. I had to work hard trying to locate even the main power switch.

Doc Watson meter, how to connect to 48v SLA setup...

Lol....I wish they would have explained this on the website before I bought it. I mean forget it, look how big that high powered shunt is, there is no way I could fit that to my already cramp cockpit. I will stick with my nice simple current LED meter. Thanks for all the advice though...

I believe I did connect it the way that you are describing the first time I tried it, here is a schematic of how I connected it, what am I doing wrong?

Doc Watson meter, how to connect to 48v SLA setup...

Hello, Not sure if this topic has already been done but I am looking for some advice on how to connect a doc watson meter to a 48v SLA battery pack system, I can't get it to work. On these meters, there are a four wires to account for in total.....two wires, a black and...

BMS for 2 6p16s hi current A123 packs in parallel????

Hi there, Yep. By individual cells I meant the 6p packs considered as cells. I would imagine I could get everything balanced with a balance/charger before building the larger pack cells. ok, great thanks. Alright, so heat will be an issue? but will it effect the batteries enough to...

BMS for 2 6p16s hi current A123 packs in parallel????

hi there, You say the LVC setting can be used on the Alltrax controller but it will be redundant......, that's exactly the point i'm trying to figure out, would it be enough to manage the pack without a BMS for each individual cell?? I'm assuming the LVC setting on the controller will...

BMS for 2 6p16s hi current A123 packs in parallel????

Here is a screen shot of the Alltrax controller software, how cool is this controller, ya can actually hook it up to a pc and adjust different parameters. Anyway, worth mentioning that an undervoltage parameter can be set which I would believe would cut the controller if the pack voltage...

BMS for 2 6p16s hi current A123 packs in parallel????

Hello, from Canada, my name is Jon. Been glancing around this site for a while now with speratic posts here and there. Learning alot, pretty good site. Cheers for some great replys. I have a home made electric motorcycle that I would eventually like to equip with LIPO. (will...

Thread for new battery breakthrough PR releases

Kind of off on a tangent here, I am just wondering why Lipo is so expensive. @19$US per A123 cell how can this be? what costs go into making these puppies. Are we paying for the production processes or is it just that raw lithium is so expensive?

Just not sure if they are for high amperage.

    Building a123 packs for dummies.....

No, they don't last long when the throttle is pinned. But it's hella fun all 2-3 minutes that you get outta of it. I had my bike up to 83kph on road this summer, lasts a few minutes, might put some footage up next season on youtube of drag runs. Electric is hella fast for accel when the battery...

    Building a123 packs for dummies.....

" Why would you want more than 5C? At a 5C discharge rate you're looking at about a 15 minute bike ride. Unless you're trying to set a speed record, you'd be better served by a bike that used perhaps 1.5C. Then you could ride for an hour at least. " yeah man, well I don't know, all this $hit...

    Building a123 packs for dummies.....

Earlier, Malcom mentioned that a 16s8p pack could be built using A123's, What about Batt management system? who should I be talking to for this? Gary Goodrum and Bob Mcree ? I would be willing to send the raw materials over and pay a small fee for someone to build this type of pack with all the...

    Building a123 packs for dummies.....

Interesting stuff…..thank you. 50 to 100 cycles, what would that be, maybe a few months use, 1800$ down the tubes every few months…….not unless I was sponsored by maxamps.  Ok, so LIFEBatts look good, they still haven’t been fully...

    Building a123 packs for dummies.....

Ypedal.. Funny enough, Zero, formerly electricross is what inspired me to build my prototype bike. No, if I were to patent anything about my EV it would be industrial design or form factor claims and just make a company that way. As anyone can build an electric motocycle. Duh...

    Building a123 packs for dummies.....

I'm suprised this hasn't come up already. I want to upgrade my current ebike/motorcycle system which is ((2X12v 20Ah series) + (2X12v 20Ah series)) series = total 48v 20 Ah battery system connected to a 300amp alltrax controller, the controller pulls alot of amperage at peak loads. What sort...
