kWeld - "Next level" DIY battery spot welder

I understand E=Pt and P=IV. So I used 18J setting for 0.1mm nickel and 30J for 0.2mm nickel. My question was if I change from one approved battery to another will the J setting on the kWelder need to be adjusted or will it be the same. It sounds like the same Energy setting should work as long...

I know you have to re-calibrate with each different battery you connect to the Kweld, That wasn’t my question.

kWeld - "Next level" DIY battery spot welder

A couple questions to tatus1969: 1. With the kweld the adjustment for different welds is in energy J. I'm just wondering if there will be a difference in the weld energy used in each weld when your battery is fully charged and when the battery is close to the LVC? or will the setting of 20J...

    soldering vs spot welding debate

3 second solder job Should do one one weld at a time as you go down the line and then come back and do the 2nd weld then come back do the 3rd weld. The worse I could find on the video Like this, one weld at a time. Video where you can see all this. THERMAL CAMERA Imaging of...

Grin Phase Runner / CA3 and BBSHD

Could you post a URL to the that thread plz. I've read this thread over a few times. I'm considering getting a PRv2 and setting it with my CA3 and BBSHD. I ordered a BAC800 and 750C-72Vn from Allen so it will be fun to compare the two of them together.

    18650 21s15p - 3 layers of 7s (balanced separately) advice

I don't have as much experience as you do so... but I don't think they that the current which travels serial from cell to cell is not going to take the long way around and go from the cell over to half way between the next cell in it's P=group then across the copper wire back to the 0.15x7mm...

    18650 21s15p - 3 layers of 7s (balanced separately) advice

I like the plates, 0.15mm plates are 18mm and good for 18A, the 0.2mm plages are good for 1.33 times more or 24A. I like how you did the POS exit-wire by splitting the wire and soldering the braid pre-welding. Lots of guys are laying the whole wire down the length of the P-group but have there...

Big 100 Volt 54 ah Battery build

I’m not sure which is the best way. Or I’m not sure which is the correct way. I guess the proper way would be to calculate the serial to serial nickel connection as an additional serial resister and the addition parallel to parallel Bickel connection as an addition parallel resister. Or perhaps...

Big 100 Volt 54 ah Battery build

I don't see how you are getting the need to "sum both resistances". Rp = Sc / Pc * IRc is the correct calculation. Rp = Resistance pack Sc = Serial cells Pr = Pack & BMS resistance (rated at 2P for all packs) Pc = Parallel cells IRc = Resistance cell (IR of cell) Vs = Voltage sag I = current...

Big 100 Volt 54 ah Battery build

    Vs=I*Rp so Rp=Vs/I so (97V-84V) / 230A = 0.0565 or 56.5mOhm I don't think 56.5mOhm is all the bad for a battery pack but let's take a look at the pack calculation. Your using Samsung 30Q cells which have a 20mO IR DC https://eu.nkon.nl/sk/k/30q.pdf Rp = ((Sc + Pr) / Pc) * IRc Rp =...

Battery design for POS/NEG wire connections -- Which way is better? see pic.

I don't see why that would be, the 1st and 9th cells in the last serial cell group are both connected to the "parallel wire busbar" by same size nickel strip that is used all the along the serial path from the first serial cell to the last. So it won't get any hotter than the other same size...

Is my position in 1. right or wrong? Can I have some feed back 2. please? 1.Here is an example that looks good but in reality B- wire is only connected to the 2nd last cell (see pic below; pic from https://www.myah.com/blogs/diy-energy/18650-battery-safety-guide ). I see people doing this...

Hi tatus1969, What is the oldest hardware version of the kWeld that can be updated with the new firmware and has all the features of the new r3.2/1804 (or what ever is the current model)? Ok I found the kWeld rev2 upgrade.pdf and it seems the "new voltage regulator with an extended input...

Hi PaulD, I am interested in your parallel gap spot weld head setup. Did you do a thread anywhere on this unit? I would like to produce one very similar for my personal use. Looks like some of the parts where 3D printed? Thanks in advance for any information. Bob SMS text 519-636-6636

Meanwell clone- AD488.3-400W power supply mods

What the configuration of your LiFePO4 pack? volts? Ah? kind of cells? BMS? What kind of a charger are you using? If you are doing a bulk charge to a non-BMS'ed battery pack you could monitor the cells with a 8S voltage monitoring unit. You can set a HVC and it will activate an auto alarm.

    kWeld Spot Welder Questions 2018.09.27

According to mToll's numbers 0.3mm is good for 2A per 1mm of Nickel so 0.3mm x 10mm will be 20A acceptable.
