Potentially damaged QS205 motor - opened it, what to look for?

yes thats the first thing I eliminated. I believe Neptronix is correct about the resonance - could be perfectly normal...

Potentially damaged QS205 motor - opened it, what to look for?

somewhat yes 66-69kph between that range it rattles. see link at top of my first post if you wanna hear it.

Potentially damaged QS205 motor - opened it, what to look for?

Follow up to my post the other day QS205 metallic noise between 66-69kph freewheeling. Ok so I opened up the motor - pulled both side covers. No signs of severe heat damage - no burnt or discolored wires/coils - both bearings spin smooth, very little play, well greased. No noise. - Inspected...

QS205 metallic noise between 66-69kph freewheeling.

Ok update: opened up the motor; bearings are like new, super smooth, magnets are all glued in. no signs of anything scraping around inside the motor, no burned or discolored wires. looks perfect. Im stumped. maybe the noise is just a perfectly normal resonance of some sort and the problem is...

QS205 metallic noise between 66-69kph freewheeling.

In a video i watched, looked like a much bigger puller tool...like 8 or 10"... i'll have to do more digging on that. Funny you mention temperature. the Onyx app is showing the motor temp is NEGATIVE 273 degrees (cold) lol.

QS205 metallic noise between 66-69kph freewheeling.

Has an unstuck magnet ever been known to lock up a motor? even for a few seconds until it got crunched up? would need a big gap to pop out of its seat I would think....looks like im gonna have to open and inspect...

QS205 metallic noise between 66-69kph freewheeling.

(Onyx RCR with 41ah battery option) riding ~1 summer no issues until now. While riding on a dirt trail, coasting down a hill rear wheel locked up or nearly locked up (not sure) - no it was not regen, not touching brakes. no explanation, just felt like extreme braking. after that it rolled again...

    My armchair engineering ebike

Maybe your comment was meant for OP - sorry don't mean to be hijacking this thread. that ninja 250 is using a 3000w continuous (6000w peak) motor capable of 70kph+ - that is way more power than i want/need. 1500w/3000 peak is much more achievable on a low budget. Also, I'm no stranger to...

cool, I havent decided on 20"24"or26" wheel yet, likely to go with 48v or 52v battery pack (price, availability) - what would you recommend for a 60kph top speed?

    My armchair engineering ebike

Thanks for the tip - had no idea about the larger freewheels - i like to pedal still, and increase range. Why the Leaf motor over other options? Does it offer the best value/performance/features mix compared to others? I just started looking at the 1500-2000w options and its very difficult to...

    My armchair engineering ebike

Main thing im interested in is the motor choice. I am looking in the 1500 (cont/3000wpeak) power range to achieve around 60kph top speed, and would like to still have a 7 speed freewheel or ideally a 9 speed cassette on it. Fat rear tire, big skinny front for that "chopper" look lol. The QS205...

Hi Daniel, I was searching this forum for completed cruiser builds (still am actually) and came across your post. I'm looking to do something similar. - I want a cruiser style, because its really comfortable. Right now, i have an Electra Lux fat bike XL (ebike converted) that a customer traded...

Stretch Cruiser (Micargi Bronco) / 5000W build.

very cool build. I'm planning a "tamer" version of this - a bit less stretch but still low rider cruiser style, and around 1500w - so a more budget friendly build. In your searches, maybe you came across similar frames but with a bit less reach? any suggestions?

    testing capacity of Shimano battery?

Yes that was a simple mistaken assumption, but the word "worth" can certainly be taken to mean "market value". As in "this bike is worth $3000 on the used market." It seems you have assumed I bought this bike new...I did not - i paid roughly half of retail used (what it's "worth" lol)...which...

    testing capacity of Shimano battery?

I see, yes i assumed you meant market value. This is being used with the shimano e8000 system so i don't really have a choice as far as batteries go. I'm considering selling and trying a build with bafang M620 and a Dengfu carbon frame (like the Luna X2)... I just would like to be able to...

    testing capacity of Shimano battery?

I'm not embarrased, but you should be with your above comments. checking the remaining capacity of a battery is not a dumb question, quite reasonable. "watt meter and a load" wording was for brevity not detail. recommended tools from GRIN...far from farcical. The only thing unreasonable here...

    testing capacity of Shimano battery?

Again you assume to know everything about me and what I know. More condescending BS. I have enjoyed amazing epic rides on this bike for 3 years so far so its hardly a waste. "All machines break eventually", wow what an insight! Known good quality cell brand and type...more bs from you.

    testing capacity of Shimano battery?

If you can direct me to a seller selling the BT8020 battery for only around $300 i would love to see it. I could not find one used for less than $800. Also sorry wasnt clear - this is CAD...so maybe $600 usd. I suppose if one pack is too worn maybe I could find a reputable company to rebuild...

    testing capacity of Shimano battery?

Wow, what an Elitist, snobby, insulting and condescending comment. You've made a bunch of incorrect assumptions about me. butt out if you don't have anything constructive to say. Also whining about no response with less than 24 hours since orig post? People have lives. I chose this bike...

    testing capacity of Shimano battery?

I don't entirely disagree with you, and I'm fully aware of the pros and cons of buying into such systems vs diy. but really i just wanted to hear from someone who may have tested one of these batteries to assure me it was ok to test using standard methods. I highly doubt the dealer would know...

    testing capacity of Shimano battery?

Battery is removable. it is mine. i actually have 2 of them. one seems to have less capacity than the other. unknown mileage and usage on both (bought used). I want a more accurate test to get the watt-hours remaining and compare to spec to get an idea how much capacity has been lost vs new...

    testing capacity of Shimano battery?

Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone knows if it is safe to test capacity of shimano BT-e8020 battery using basic watt meter tool and a resistor for load (Grin 6.8ohm 400w resistor)? not sure if I can treat this battery the same as most ebikes and just connect + and - to the main batt terminals...or...

"Lying" to the Kt LCD3 display on P1 to gain max speed OK? why?

Thanks Amberwolf. Your sage advice is always appreciated! I think i'd be comfortable with the 25a controller but sounds like it likely wont help much with top speed...

"Lying" to the Kt LCD3 display on P1 to gain max speed OK? why?

Yes I read that post. It doesn't answer any of my questions though. 1. Is there any potential harm in "lying" or entering incorrect motor magnet poles? 2. If anyone understands it, how does the display use this data for P1 setting, or how does it interpret the numbers and how does that affect...
