affordable 25.9v lipo?

does it exist? or would it be easier to just series 18.5 + 7.4?

The chaining of different batteries scares me a little bit for when it comes to charging time.

6S pack in series with a 2S pack

That is what I used with my Cyclone 500w.

Kano, did you not find that fresh off the charger the lipos would over volt and blow the cyclone controller?

Im wondering if 25.9v would be a safer option!

No, fresh of the charger an 8S pack would be about 33.6V max ( 4.2V per cell) internal controller has caps rated 35V, so it will be ok, apart from that, voltage would rapidly settle about 29.6V as you start using energy.
