Hi,
My buddy wants to either build a cyclone 3kw or a bbshd. I think he is aiming for the former, but he is nervous downgrading to square taper cranks.. Which of these bb should he choose for install, also will 29" tires cause him to use a different front sprocket for either motor?

If you get a BB30 BB you can convert it to pretty much any BB you want.

If you go with a BB30 and wish to install a BBSHD for example you will need this kit: http://www.wiggle.com/fsa-bb30-conversion-kit/
I know for a fact because I just got finished installing a BBSHD into a BB30 BB on my Cannondale Flash lefty 29er.
I think you would need the same conversion kit for the cyclone as well.

There are also ISIS bottom brackets available for the cyclone if you don't like square taper.

perfect, thanks for the info. Just needs to be pressed in correctly, other wise damage can occur. Since he will not need a crank setup, were just going to build it up from the frame up. A full suspension frame is very expensive, so we might just build up a hardtail. Also seems that 26" bikes have been phased out, and everything is 27.5"(650b) or 29"....

what do you think of this frame

Yeah installing the BB conversion was a bit of a struggle.
I used a long threaded bolt, nuts and washers but was successful.

I don't have an opinion on that frame, I would just make sure the frame will fit the battery if you intend to mount the battery in the frame.

will one of those 3 mounts get in the way of a bbshd/cyclone install?

I don't think it will for the BBSHD the motor will sit flush against it.

Not certain about the cyclone.
