Got a question about the quote above.
- I usually charge up at gas stations, sign pylons, mini malls, train stations. If I am pulling 6A at full draw with my MW's at the wall outlet. I should be able to place two sets of MW's on one outlet and get 12A out of the wall outlet. So would those outlets be rated for 15A or 20A?
My ONE built pack is 36V(nom) 41.5V(max) 10S 18Ah and takes 1.25 hours (Ah/A) to charge full.
I want to build a second pack from DB's Makita's and debating which way to go. More Ah, same Ah, charge time.
- I do have a third identical MW. So maybe what I need to do is build my second battery pack so its splittable, 10S 36V (41.5V) 18Ah into 5S 18V (20.75V) 36Ah but at 16A charge would take 2.25 hours. Which is no good, would like to get it down to 1.25-1.50 hours.
This leaves me to.....
SMUN (MW Clone)
25A 24V 600W $75(CAD) Shipped
33A 24V 800W $151(CAD) Shipped
50A 24V 1200W $193(CAD) Shipped
But would they act the same as the MW in terms of CC/CV ?
If so the 25A 24V 600W SMUN looks reasonable. Then I could split a 2nd pack from 36V 18Ah into 18V 36Ah, and take 1.44 hours.
Now I never timed a full charge, all my times were strictly Battery Size (Ah) divided by Charger (A).
But it does seem to take a bit longer then Ah/A. I am usually in a restaraunt waiting and the MW's turn off on their own due to self protection or I come back and the fans have turned down very low.
Has anyone actually times their packs charging time?
A final option is DCDC.

Just wanted to add my MW HRP-300-24 in series (two of them) pumping out 16A into the batteries, is only pulling 5.90A to 6.25A from the wall. I use it to charge 41.5V pack (10S), but it goes up to 60V. The label on the MW itself states Input 100-240Vac 4.5A
