Hi,
I picked up a bike off craigslist thinking it was a larger geared hub like a bafang BPM. I opened it up this morning and to my surprise it's a small direct drive. I couldn't believe my eyes. It's a front hub, no disk adapter, wires thru the axle, and has silver covers with some numbers and a circled S logo. I've search around and can't really find any info. They were running it on 36V and 12A. Based on the thickness of the stater and the amount of copper wire, it looks like a little monster to me.

Can anyone here help me identify it?

The S in a circle is actually an S inside a Q. QS motors. Looks to be an older model motor. They can probably tell you what it is.

Wow, I'm impressed Wes. I was just going to say it's similar to, but not an aotema or 400 series clyte.

It can definitely handle 48v 30 amps, or 72v 20 amps. Or 72v 40 amps for a not too long ride. Might need a wires upgrade for a hard run though.

I just realized that I forgot to say thank you to the both of you.

Thank you!!! You guys rule.

I agree, it is a Q around an S so I think you're right, it's a QS. It also seems very similar to the Crystalyte 40 series. I haven't run it yet so I'm not sure of the performance. It does have a 40mm stator though. I'm going to run it on 48v 25a and see how it does.
