What’s your thoughts on adding some oil or grease to the rubber seals?
Also we should probably be careful with reinstalling the side plates to not mess up that inner ledge of the rubber seal and maybe a little bit of oil or
Yeah If I can I always grease the seals, whether it is a timing chain cover, rear main, front main seal, ect. Hopefully it will stay. This time I used Cosmoline, filled the gap between the seal and the bearing. Parrafin.
I also installed the seal AFTER the side covers were on. Having a large phase wire, this helped alot get it past the bulge. I almost did not make it. Wires almost did not fit inside the hole and still make it. I bored the 8mm to 10mm. The design of the V1 has much less axle there, but still enough.
Yeah I glued that in there with Cosmoline. Since that is were mine failed. I have packed grease into flanges and holes before with somewhat decent results, if it does not melt out (390*F) Lol. Its under a eighth inch of modified non polar 20$ a can paraffin wax right now. We will see if it leaks. I also have a V3, strictly ready for modification.
I also use grease to seal flanges sometimes. It does work well, You ca seal an intake or even an exhaust with a thin layer of grease. However, this time I used Loctite 504, anaerobic high pressure high temp gasket maker, fills to 0.01 inch.
My motor has no rubber seal grove around the side plates, nor any rubber seals. Just silicone, OEM.
