Some time ago I was using a SCR 220VAC to dc shunt motor controller, the pulse shape was causing the motor to have a loud growl sound when running, I placed a choke (inductor) in series with the armature, which recuced the noise to a acceptable level.
The Mars/Kelly 3 phase motor controller has a noise problem at start/low rpm (controller pulse shape not totaly compatible with motor) has anyone thought of adding a 3 phase inductor/capacitor assembly, to round over the peaks of the waveform?
(I have a vector drive for use on 3 phase 440 volt motors that recomends using a 3 Phase (inductor) wound transformer capacitor assembly to reduce the spikes that could punch through the insulation on a older non vector drive rated motor.)
