Campfire type stories, but basically true so far as what is known.
There's a series of books called 'Missing 411,' about people disappearing in National Parks, skiing, etc. There are profiles for the types of disappearances, as well as 59 places identified where people normally disappear. There is even a 'Nevada Triangle,' much like the 'Bermuda Triangle.' These two documentaries are about cases covered in books.
But why do people remove and fold their clothes? Or set them as though the person was wearing when they vanished out of them? Would YOU remove your hiking boots to keep walking? Inexplicable sequences of events keep occurring, as some bodies are found so many miles from where they were last seen, crossing impossible terrain. Quickly. Others are never found. One turned up 13 months later, carrying a backpack full of memorabilia for such experiences as entering a marathon, claiming no recollection of anything.
And what of the small children, too young to make sense when they talk, telling of being carried away by animals far far away, where they are found. Did a 3 year old really walk such a great distance through the wilderness?
But these are all stories with police reports, hordes of search and rescuers participated in rescue efforts, family members present at the moment they suddenly dropped out of sight. Forever. . . .
You can read the 7 interviews or watch video of them. https://www.mysterywire.com/mysteries/strange-disappearances-in-national-parks-and-forests-the-missing-411-phenomena/
