Welcome to my build thread.

My victim:
2015 Specialized FatBoy XL frame
4.6" ground control tires
90mm rims
Bluto front suspension fork
Hydraulic disk brakes
X9 shifters, X7 components
100mm bottom bracket
190mm rear dropouts

Phase 1: cyclone 3000 mid drive kit.
Phase 2: add a front hub motor to make it AWD!

Uses for the bike:
Getting around in the snow, riding single track trails, occasionally towing a trailer (100-150lbs)

Getting ready to order my kit.

Is the cyclone kit on luna
http://lunacycle.com/motors/mid-drive-kits/cyclone-mid-drive/cyclone-mid-drive-3000-watt-planetary/

and the HD electric beast kit on Sick Bike Parts

pretty much the same? Do they use the same motor and controller?

Very nice bike Emco. Since you have plans down the road for a hub up front have you thought about going for the HD1000 instead of the high powered unit you are looking at. The HD is so quiet and its controller is built in so when you add your second motor you wont have two controllers to install. By the look of the bike and your plans for it I figure if you gear the HD1000 for the task you will be happier. Nice smooth slow speed power, super quiet and it will be a much cleaner install in my opinion. Just a thought I am sure you have your reasons for the motor you are looking at.

I'll be using the bike for hunting and fishing, mostly hunting. I duck hunt and haul a cargo trailer with all my gear and decoys in it. I want the extra power for hauling the extra weight. For duck hunting I won't be pulling any large hills, but will be towing a lot of weight. Right now I pack kind of light because I have to pedal in 2.5 miles to my spot. After I have electric power, I can assume I'll be upping my cargo cuz I can haul it. When I go predator hunting in the mountains, I'll be running in snow with the tires aired down, pulling long steady uphill grades for some period of time. I figured the Cyclone would hold up better to such abuse. Another thing I'd like to try in the winter is going up and unloading at the snow park and riding the groomed snowmobile trails. I want to see if I can make it all the way up to the warming shelter and back. Couple thousand feet in elevation change, but that will be just me and the bike, no gear to haul. I want to push it and see just how far and how deep of snow I can run in. My range I'm guessing will be half or less than running on dry ground. So I'll have to pack as much battery as I can into this bike.

I have a Control Tech full suspension bike that I think would be great for a BBSHD. After I get the fat bike done, I'll look at doing that one.

First thing I have to figure out on my build is the Bottom Bracket.
I've decided to go with the ISIS, haven't been able to find many in 100mm.

found these two on ebay:
Truvativ Giga Pipe ........http://www.ebay.com/itm/191009660992?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

FSA PLATINUM DH .......http://www.ebay.com/itm/191380956402?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Witch one do you guys think would be better? I'm not really a "bicycle guy" so I'll need a little help figuring some of this stuff out.

Also, does anyone make a ISIS Bottom bracket with a shell width over 100mm? Other than the added thickness of the two mounting plates, I'm also going to have a flange on each side from my adaptors I have to put in the BB shell to mate to the ISIS BB. Thanks to DingusMcGee for helping me figure some of this out all ready.

Well the hardest part of my build is over........waiting for all the parts to arrive...LOL!!!

Now its time to get to work.
