Anyone know where I can purchase a rear double layer bike rack like this for a reasonable price in the US?
Note: I checked the dimensions of this rack against my battery case and it will not fit.

I have the first and to say that I am not impressed is an understatement. Not been able to find well designed one yet. I have contemplated using a standard rack and attach a rack frame to the top of the battery.

Careful, I think apar_ebikes, the eBay seller above, is Busettii who have a bad reputation for poor service and misrepresenting their ebike and motor kits. There's also a similar rack from Amazon seller "E Bike Factory" who is Busettii.

Thanks for all the great advice!

I checked my battery's aluminum case dimensions 400 x 150 x 80mm (15.75 x 5.9 x 3.15 inches) and it will not fit inside your first linked bike rack assuming I have the correct inside dimensions - 375 x 155 x 70mm (14.76 x 6.1 x 2.76 inches). Looks like I will have a height problem (3.15" versus 2.76"). Here is a link to the battery I ordered:

Here is a link to where I found the rack's inside dimensions (look for yellow highlighted dimensions) :

Do you know what the inside dimensions are on your second linked bike rack?

Enough said, I will not purchase anything from a vendor who is known for poor service and misrepresenting their products. The search continues.....

Putting all the battery weight back there is convenient but not great for system balance, unless this is for front motor.
My build is for a 48V 1000W direct drive front wheel motor. Here is a link to the conversion kit I have on order:

I sold the attached one for CAD15 a few months ago. Hope you could find one soon.

WOW, that rack is just what I need! When and where can I buy one?

I'm not having any luck finding a double layer rack that will work and is reasonably priced (<$50 Delivered).
Any recommendations for a good single layer rack that will work with my battery? Does anybody have experience with the following rack:

Interesting ...I wonder if the bar could be rotated 180 degrees so one could mount it over the front wheel as well?Interesting_rack1.jpg

As a rack alternative can you put the case in the triangle like below?

The similar rack has the advantage of having a round tube versus square supporting rod. I wonder if I could fit a controller box mounted in front of the rack?

I'm kind of regretting that I didn't go with one of the triangle shaped batteries that come with a mounting bag. I imagine that the bike would be much better balanced with the battery mounted in the center triangle. My original thoughts were that a rack mount battery would be much easier to remove and take inside for charging. At this point, fabricating a center triangle mount for my battery case is probably beyond my engineering and mechanical capabilities.

Looking at your photos, I should probably consider adding some fenders to my MTB. My area of Florida has frequent rain showers during the summer and I'll probably end up riding on wet roads sooner or later,

OldTimer, you might consider these for future.

If your case fits in the triangle you can mount it like paul below (1, 2). You'll already have the mounting plate from the battery. On his improved mount (the 2nd-4th photos) the L-brackets can be bought from a home improvement store and the muffler clamps from an auto parts store.

I do not think that it is round --- symmetrical maybe. I messed with the bottom detail view to pull out the detail in the shadows. It appears to have a rail on each side of the extruded main beam.Interesting_Rack4.JPGInteresting_Rack3.JPGIf I were going to try mounting a separate box for the controller then I think I would consider mounting it 'under' the main beam close to the seat post.

Here's a photo of the bike I'm going to use for the build.

The seat post is a good foot or more above the rear tire. I'm not sure the rack support arms are long enough for my bike. The angle of the rear wishbone fork may also be too steep. What do you think?

I do not think that the length of strut arms would be a problem. They could be attached to the stays fairly close to the bottom of the brake arms.

Having said that I think that with that frame you might be better served by a rack that mounts in a more conventional manner so as to lower the center of gravity. Example:
http://www.amazon.com/BIKE-RACK-SUNLT-G-TEC-SPORT/dp/B002MKJSRM

You would probably need one of these as well:
http://www.amazon.com/BIKE-RACK-SUNLT-MONOSTAY-ADPTR/dp/B000AO9PE8

This assumes that the rear dropouts have a 5mm threaded hole for attaching fenders or racks .... but one should never assume such things.
As an alternative there might be sufficient space to add a hole.
Personally I prefer to drill and tap the holes to 1/4-20. I then install bolts from the inside the frame.
They are a tad stronger and the heads are less likely to interfere with the rotating bits.

Looks like I have 3 holes in my rear dropout.
DSCF7045 x2.jpg
I'm not sure if they are threaded but would the larger hole be used for the rear rack and the two smaller holes for a rear fender?
Funny thing is I already had the rack and monostay adapter that you recommended in my Amazon shopping cart.

I have also been looking at front and rear fenders. Here are some photos of my rear and front mounting points.

REAR:

[b]FRONT:

My front fork does not have any fender mounting holes or room to drill any holes. I assumed that I could use the brake mounting bolts in both the front and rear. Any recommendations on some inexpensive black fenders? Thanks

Great minds think ...
I said 'threaded' merely because most of the attachment holes/eyelets on bicycles are threaded and 5mm is the common size.
The holes directly over the axle is where a rack would normally attach and the fender strut would utilize the rear one.
I have no clue what that large hole was intended for.

I really can not comment much on fenders.

By the way there was a recall on Huffy Bicycles that included some Snake River models:
