Hi there,
I have been googling for many days how to electrify this bike, but I am still lost. I am looking for medium assist, not crazy "TURBO" modes like Bosch has, 10s battery, light weight solution. BBSHD would be a candidate if it was lighter or didn't have square tapered axle.

TSDZ2 (https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=79788) had almost all checks:
-light
-torque sensor
-mid drive
-cheap
However frame has 83mm bottom bracket, while TSDZ2 supports 73mm max, no cigar.

So next best solution would be a rear geared hub motor with proper freewheel and disc mount, but I can't find any for 157x12mm thru axle. Maybe even 135/142/150x12mm could work with some kind of adapter? Preferably 32 holes, preferably something that can handle enduro/freeride usage? Am I asking for a unicorn?

Thanks for any input!

Through-Axle motors
Crystalyte's "The Crown" is 3080 size, which means 30mm magnets/stator.

IGH motors
305 is the slow winding and 395 is the fast winding. #'s are RPM

Thanks for the tips! However I meant hub motors with planetary gears (not direct drive) with ability to use regular 10 speed cassettes for chain shifting. Any of those out there?

Its using direct drive unto the IGH gears which I find fascinating how they've come up with that. Grin Tech keeps bumping out good product.

It sounds great to be able to use internal transmission for myself And the motor, but I am not sure if they make them with 12mm thru axle...

Best bet is ditch the idea of electrifying your through hub bike. Get something with regular 135 mm dropouts. Re the gearing, you simply don't need 9 gears once you have a motor helping. So get a decent bike, and if its a 9 speed, change the rear shifter to a 7 speed shifter. Then all your decent geared rear hubmotors fit, and if you want, the BB will fit the mid drive, and keep it 9 gears.

Don't beat yourself to death trying to make your e bike such a beauty, a decent 10 year old MTB will make a fine ride.
