Ride the Future Tour

Some interesting and still-odd things happening with the Ride the Future Tour:

- They got washed out by flooding in the venue they chose in Nashville, TN. There was an alternate venue but I hate to think what happened, since there were probably people in Nashville dealing with floodwaters.

- I've seen one A2B bike in most of the updates. Other than that, I think it's been the eScooter and the LEAF. Oh, and yes, the electric motorcycle that's already made the trip across the US once. They show the van and the support truck a few times, and they seem to stop off at public places along the way and participate in charitable functions.

- I think the team is in Arkansas or Oklahoma right now. The updates aren't so descriptive that you can tell exactly where they are and there's no positional information being provided either on facebook or on the website. You get maybe a pic and less than a dozen words about where they are and what's going on.

I'm still sending them the good vibes, but this has to be the oddest public event I've ever seen....

I've seen 4chan threads that were easier to follow than this thing...

I like the idea, they just need someone to better coordinate the social and marketing aspects.

Werd! I really don't get it, given all the pre-ride publicity, then suddenly nothing. Facebook posts of a couple words and a bad photo showing only a subset of the participants. No GPS-based online tracking. It seems odd...and almost like it's dropped down from being a coast-to-coast treehugger party to a half-dozen geek dudes trekking it out. I wonder how Guinness is validating this trip, and if there is a Guinness representative in the crew?

Contrast this event with Terry Hershner's "Off The Grid" Facebook pages. Outstanding!

I was thinking about joining up with them in Flagstaff and riding the leg to the Grand Canyon but I can not seem to find much info about their schedule. All I can find is that they will be in Flag on the 31st and at the canyon on Aug. 1st.
Does anyone know if they encourage e-bikers to tag along or would I be shunned?
I just inaugurated my new 33AH battery pack so I could certainly do that leg if I keep my speed down to that of the A2B bikes.

There was a photo from one of their stops where they had been joined by a local ebiker. I can't remember where. They didn't seem to shun, but to welcome.

The vibe I'm getting from their extreme lack of publicity is that the world isn't "joining the party" like they thought the world would. They might be very happy to have your company on one of the segments.

And I, for one, would be very happy to get your impressions afterward. Anything you could share with us here on E-S would be far more than I'm getting from their Facebook posts!

Looks like to get info on where they are when, you send them money to ride the A2B.

BTW: dogman, they say they are approaching Winslow, AZ. http://ridethefuturetour.com/arizon/

From your prior posting:

In summer, some kind of "charity mega ride" thingy passes through on the I 10 route every week or two. I don't know, it just seems to smack of pay for my vacation to me.

I started to think the publicity blackout is intentional. Went back and checked their website: lo and behold, more than two words and a photo!

Indeed, now their Facebook page is getting better updates too:

You can actually tell where they are in near-real-time now. My spidey sense was working overtime trying to uncover the hidden agenda. Now I can relax a little.

Looks like they'll be in my area on Aug 10th. I might try to meet up since it's a weekend.
